Planting out...A month away

Paul - Looks nice. Good luck. Save your back and don't get your wife too mad. May be this is a good time to send her to a shopping spree while you do your garden work...

I enjoy working in the yard with her too much to send her shopping, we just had to discuss and measure where the property lines where and where these beds are going. Somehow, she was thinking that I intended on taking the whole yard, leaving no play room for our daughter. After setting a few stakes, she can visualize everything better. All is cool :)

Update

Well, I got a call from one of the local nurseries about a price quote for soil. I had no idea at the cost.

They sell it by the scoop and he figured that given my space, I'll need about 24 scoops. Broken down, that is 16 scoops of screened top soil at $13.00 per scoop and 8 scoops of compost at $25.95 per scoop. Ah, I see some overtime in my future....

ok...got me asking how big is a scoop?...1 yd, 1/2 yd...????

This year the garden is going to be alot bigger than last year.My cousin and I are still working out the size so we can have some veggies in there aswell as my peppers lol.It seems I lost my topsy turvy to my better half she wants tomatoes in it lol.Guess ill go buy another one hehehe. The only thing I know is I bought a tiller for this year so I dont have to borrow one..Man I cant wait

Well AJ, that is a really good question and I'm going to have to call them on it and find out. I was kind of in sticker shock at the time...LOL I found another place that has screened top soil for $17 per ton. So now I also have to figure out how much a scoop weighs...

Tools are soooo Cool! Congrats on the new tiller. It would be a lot cheaper if thats all I needed, but my yard looks like they back filled it with river gravel under the top soil. So, building my beds is the best alternative.

FYI...the 60/40 compost/sand I am using weighs 1400 a yard...and it was 17.50 a yard....if a scoop is a bobcat bucket load, that is a little over a yard depending on who's running the bobcat...

I am anxious to see your beds PF....keep on keepin' on...
