Plastic for mulch

The whole point in using that black plastic ground cover is because it heats up the ground faster and peppers love warm earth. This is why all my pots are black.

ive seen some red plastic ground cover they say its supposed to increase fruit production. I think the article I was reading was talking about tomatoes but maybe it would work for peppers

my distributor carries the red- they claim it heats the soil faster and increases yields in tomatoes specifically. cost is almost double that of the black but slightly less than the silver.

could be but i doubt it does so enough to justify using it on a large scale... i'm a proponent of K.I.S.S. and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"- it amazes me sometimes the lengths some folks go to in growing simple pepper plants. one of the things i love so much about peppers is how easy to grow and relatively trouble free they are compared to a lot of other crops, even their relatives tomatoes and eggplant.

if growing were a hobby rather than my means of making a living i would be more prone to experimentation.
