Post office nut cases

You might remember I lost a package earlier this year when the post office sent it to Hawaii.  I got a better one for you.  Sent a few orders right before Thanksgiving.  One came up missing.  Tracking said it left Shelbyville and then didnt get anywhere.  As of two weeks after the order was shipped, it was still in route after leaving our local post office.  OK, things get lost.  I apologized, loaded it up with free stuff, sent again.  I happens right?

One of those orders was some seeds I was sending to a real estate agent in Columbus, OH.  He is selling a condo that I fixed up for my mother.  He had hired a guy to haul off trash and I had to send him a check to pay him back.  I included a bunch of seeds and sent it in our padded envelope with our return address.  So it looked like one of our seed orders going out.

Today, I got a letter from Shelby Clean Community Program.  The letter included that check that I sent along with a note saying it was found alongside Highway 53 by a clean up crew.  I ran the tracking code on that package, you guessed it.  It left the Shelbyville post office and was never recorded entering any other point.

You know, I ended the 2015 grow season with nothing but praise for the post office.  With the exception of the one box that went to the wrong state, I had very little trouble.  Then Thanksgiving came and went.  Now they are blowing huge flaming chunks.

Thinking it is the one post office and there is another one just as close.  Also thinking the 2016 fresh pod season is going to include our letter carrier picking up at the farm and a postal scale for our non flat rate stuff so she can do the same with those.

Am I paranoid to think someone at the local post office is intentionally screwing with things?

Yeah I really wouldn't think they are screwing with you personally, It could have been something as simple as having their windows down, driving too fast with a gust of wind going through the vehicle. Of course, it could be that there is a global conspiricy to eliminate AJ's peppers from being shipped to the citizens and promoting world piece.....gotta keep the war machine fed somehow ;)

I got your seeds today all intact and love'em thank you. Maybe cause you use the Post Office more then the usual John Doe mistakes are more likely to occur to you.

Well, I am going on day 16..20..I lost track... who knows!  Still waiting for part 2 of a 2 part shipment (which the 1st installment was many days late as is). I am actually wishing the mail would screw up an order from Amazon or something (that can be replaced), not something that can't! I would happily trade such a situation! I have uber amounts of patience (I'm now waiting on the 3rd going on 4th year just to hear on application approval from the Gov. about financial assistance (medical issues.) Last meeting I was told- "Oh, it will be about 350 days on average now until you hear from us, then we can proceed" Sure... what's another year... My entire 20's (now working halfway into the three-zero's) went into the breeze being patient. Entire years now are literally nothing (I just watch them go bye-bye)... so waiting for a package is a laugh! I just want it too arrive- let it be 6 months from now, a year... just get here!

Have talked with the local PO supervisor twice, but without a tracking number being given me, I'm coming up against a wall. Unless the shipper kept the receipt, then that option is out too. Have thought about contacting the main PO where it was shipped to see if they have 'logged' on the day it was shipped all the packages sent to my state or zip code (can't be that many right!?)- then just pick it out from there from my addy or zip code! Boom! you just discovered my package and the tracking #. Now find it and send it here. (unless God forbid it got stolen, is truly lost or has been kicked into a dark corner somewhere in some gigantic warehouse)

I USED to love the USPS! I remember fondly ordering cd's, posters and shirts all through my teens. (every package like Christmas!) ALWAYS got my orders...Always!! I would await with glee for the mail man to arrive, now just hoping it doesn't cause me to develop my first early grey hair! Haha.
(and yes, I too think someone has/is intentionally screwing with my mail! Think it's only a natural thought to think that way after a while)

My thoughts are with you in your struggles!

They gave me a few boxes at once, one I opened and it had an IPad Air. Looked at the address and it was not mine. Took it back to PO. What was funny was when I took it back, the dude saw it was cut open and taped and was like "Did you put the contents back in?" LOL....nooo I took that shit... how about oops thanks for returning it lol.

That movie is #hilarity. The dog lol.

I have a missing 9.6mil Pure Evil...Left our regional PO on Dec 8th.... no further tracking logged.....

Just had to send out a replacement via Priority, hopefully it'll get there by Christmas.... :(

Imagine that bottle getting into the hands of someone who didn't know what it was.

If they got the bottle as ill-gotten gains...I hope the get the FULL experience!

Amazingly, I've only had a couple packages get totally lost.  A PE got returned from Norway.  Took 10 days to get from here to there, where it sat in the customs office for 30 days and then got returned.  It took 5 MONTHS to make it back to me.  5 MONTHS!!!  :banghead:

Thought we were the only ones. Been waiting on a package as well which hasn't left one of the post offices for weeks. No updates, no package. I understand it gets busy this time of year, but damn...

SalsaLady, previous to Thanksgiving weekend the only weird one I remember was one going to Hawaii when it was suppose to go to another state entirely.  A couple others were delayed, hung up here or there but never found on the side of the road and returned by a highway clean up crew.  I really think they hired a nut case or someone remarkably incompetent.

Wife spent so many miles driving too and from post office that we can not declare it all the way you would the use of a personal vehicle.  So determined to have pick up by next year's grow season.  I am really digging the idea of splitting from the farmers market and letting the kids run a mostly honor stand here on the farm.  Having a place for our letter carrier to pick up could be worked into that idea.

Our carrier delivers to a tiny little substation that sends things to Louisville for sorting.  Think it will work out better.  Besides, having her pick up creates more word of mouth.

I got a good one. Two weeks ago I shipped a package from Northern California to Southern California. USPS Priority 2-day. Thought that was the end of it, but I just got an email from the customer wondering why their package was in Guam.  :banghead: So instead of a 400 mile trip down the coast, some how this package went over 5,800 miles across the Pacific...

The only pack of seeds(of hundreds worldwide) I sent that I ever had problems with was from NorCal to SoCal. It took nearly a month to get there. No tracking, but I wonder where the hell it went before finally making it there??

My local post office is the biggest, deepest nest of morons this side of the Orion nebula. Sniveling, worthless, knuckle-dragging troglodyte bastards they are.

Disparaging remarks about unionized Federal employees? Who'd of thunk it!

In defense of the mail service, sometimes it works
really well. PtMD989 and I just did a seed swap - three
days each way, MI to OR!

Go figure.

Oh yeah, and a five day trip to EU for B3rnd!
