1/23/12 After 3 days of neglect while I was out of town. Tray sat on a table near south facing window. Not what they needed but it kept them alive. I used my 15 minutes of free time for the week and hung a light for them.

Thanks Stefan.... I will be studying growth habits on these over the winter. Here are those mucho nachos.... They don't have the "stretch marks" that some of your freaks do. Those things would make "Octomom" jealous!!!!!

John, those are some tasty looking Jala's :D I'm wondering why I haven't grown this variety while I had seeds of it... Will grow them for sure next season! Think Octomom can use some of those freaks considering the stuff she's doing lately ain't that right? :shh:

Wow I gotta say those are the most monstrous looking pods you got growing up there. what ever your doing your plants just Seem to love'em

hey Pr0digal_son what has been your feeding schedule for those plants throughout the season and what did you feed them?

Everyone has different conditions so don't go 100% by what I say. First thing to do if you are growing in the ground is get a soil test done!!!! I used technaflora, botanicare, and fish ferts while they were indoors. When it came to transplanting outdoors, I used two different ganular fertilizers. Happy Frog 5 5 5 and Espoma Garden Tone 3 4 4 in both my pots, and inground plants. I fertilized two times during my season with the granulars. I used a tea I made to shake a couple of them loose from some nute lockout early in the season. Also used some calmag on some large podded annuums for BER which I later blamed on my waterings and not a deficiency. Next season I will use the granular from first transplant of seedlings and on through the season. My goal is to not use any liquid or soluble ferts ever again. Maybe for a deficiency if it arises, but I'm hoping my initial prepping will keep any from arising. Biggest thing with the granular is being patient,it takes awhile to settle in.

Those Mucho Nachos are a favorite for me now...I have yet to try the famed Biker Billy, but haven't been disappointed at all with my MN's. Those Giant Twisted Chocolate Habs are just nuts! Added to my list for next year for sure.

You're bound to be real close to frosty time up there. You pruning up your overwinters yet?

Mucho Nacho's are really good. I had one of them blow my neck up. Never had an annuum do that! Frost is lingering, but atleast one more week away for me. Days in the low to mid 70s this week and lows in upper 40s and low 50s. About a month ago I was selecting a few overwinters, but now I kind of lost focus on the plants. I may keep a couple.

John my man. The way you grow no need to overwinter. You got skills so sit back and enjoy the winter. Watch some football and enjoy all the pounds of peppers you have stored away. Epic season for sho :onfire:

Awesome pod/harvest pix, John.

+1 Jamie, you got dem skills, brother!
Glad I checked in before it's all over; except for
2013 startup next week  !

Great growin', my friend! Good luck winding down
the summer!

I am with Jamie on the no need to overwinter sentiment. I was going to overwinter some buckets, but as the end gets closer and the last corners of my freezers get packed I have less and less desire.

I have been wishy washy with the plants . Glad to let them get yellow and die,but then a part of me wants to put a small frame around a couple of them and see how far they can go. A couple plants look soooo good and literally have 150+ meaty pods changing color. I made little mistake later in the season and I feel like I owe it to them to stick it out. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hah The overwintering is more or less to just say I did it. Last year I found some pests on one of mine, and I chucked them all before I put my seedlings in peril! The proper decision, but still a FAIL ! I will never end with a fail !!! Looks like a Bhut Indian Carbon, and a Primo will be the two I keep. I will be rooting some coleus and doing some germination tests next week too.

Quick update after my first frost of the year. Some flowers and young growth were
burned but things are cranking away still.

Primo pods are putting on better size finally..hah..middle of October. I had nasty pods early on and larger round pods later in the year.

Not black naga mean red cross (cmpman1974) This plant is making all kinds of crazy pods.

Finally yanked the chuncho. I bet I harvested 1500 pods off this thing and yanked it with 300 left on it.

Just in time for the big debate.

Nice pictures, yea this last couple of weeks here the weather has been a mess, amazing how cold it has got but yet they still flower and try to produce..
Good luck keeping your Bhut & Primo going nice pods & tks again for the pods you sent me very hot some of the best pods i have seen.
Vic

Brother John. If I could grow half as well as you I would have more peppers than any joker on this forum. Your amazing pods and pics always put a big smile on my face. Kinda of like the smile you get when sorry ass Tiger sucks it up

I still have two problems with this grow log.

1 . You have more votes than any grow on the THP and you still only have a 4 star. That just ain't right.

2. And second the whole not so prodigal season title must be changed before the new year ;)

I vote this pic for best of the year. Just peppers at it's best

Thanks for the kind words Vic. I am glad I could help!

Wow, look at the spikes on that :hell: . That quite simply look terrifying. Did it growl at you when you held it?

You could cut sirloin steak with one of these. I'm sure of it.

Tiger who? Never heard of him. I would not fare to well dealing with the heat, pests, conditions of the south. I am lucky that where I live you can basically let them do their thing. Like a RONCO product...... "set em and forget em"

I will second that thought. Now if I could just steady myself enough to get shots like that. Maybe I will have to break out the tripod and try some.

I know nothing about photography(soon to change) but I know what I think looks cool. A steady hand helps, but winds of western PA. don't!!! Persistence and diligence will overcome lack of talent or smarts! I prove that everyday..haha
