Pumpkin Hot Sauce

I thought I'd try making some pumpkin hot sauce for Thanksgiving.  I started early so I could screw it up and still have time.  I think I hit it dead on the first batch though.  I was looking for something that tasted like pumpkin pie with a little heat.

So, here's the recipe:

29 oz can of pumpkin
1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
1 cup of apple cider (the real stuff)
1/2 cup of pineapple juice
2 tsp pumpkin spice
2 tbsp. brown sugar
10 red ghost peppers
5 Trinidad scorpion peppers

Blended, heated, bottled, has a PH reading of 3.8.

Tastes great!

that actually sounds like it would be good. I'm usually not a fan of all the pumpkin this and pumpkin that products that are everywhere and in everything this time of the year but I never really thought of a pumpkin hot sauce.  I love to mix sweet and spicy. Always sprinkle some sort of super hot powder on ice cream and cookies, really love a smoked powder like chipotle or such on oatmeal cookies. Now you need a cranberry hot sauce and you'd be set for heating up your entire Thanksgiving feast. Great creation!

Cooked for about 20 minutes.  It's very thick, had to stir constantly.  I also have another container that is not a woozy bottle that I put the remainder in.  That's at work today being sampled.  Positive reviews so far.

I like the idea of a cranberry hot sauce, should be pretty easy since they are already acidic.  My sister makes a cranberry relish that would be awesome if it was spicy.  Might have to try this out...

Looks and sounds like a great recipe Alden.

Seems like it would be too hot for average folk; you've got 2-3 ghosts and a scorpion PER BOTTLE!

I haven't tried to make a cranberry hot sauce but I do make a pretty good hot cranberry jelly. PM if you'd like the recipe.
