Purple Thunder / Bhut Jolokia x (PdN x Bonda Ma Jacques)

I have decided to start a dedicated Grow Log for
the Purple Thunder Bhut Jolokia hybrid.

It made its first appearance in 2015:
"This coloration might be the result of the intense
light on these red Bhuts, but only 2/6 show the trait.
If it is a cross,the only purple-y plant near the bhut
was Trippa's Mystery Cross. All of these seeds from
the same pod:"

A big shoutout to the folk growing Purple thunder in 2021!
Hats off to all \O_

This is the list of growers I gleaned from the 2021 season
posts so far. Muchas Grácias a todos!
@Glen_
@Mr.joe
@PtMD989
@Plantguy76
@HeatMiser
@bpiela
@Randers 2
@Cayennemist
@Bou
@CraftyFox
@Trident chilli
@rickvm
@Downriver
@dragonsfire

If anyone else has grown the Purple Thunder, any variant,
this season, feel free to post your results. If I missed some-
one, please call me out. Not really, but please accept my
apologies and correct the record!

My own 2022 grow will be the BJh-3 variant which had big,
blocky orange pods with some shading. I know some of you
have BJh-3 or are growing it this season, so it would be fun if
we could compare notes this coming season.

Also, chime in if you want to be in the F5 Purple Thunder
Yellow/Caramel 2022 grow. I will send seeds.

Hey, @Downriver, I hope you will grow the next generation of those. Looks like a real winner!

That's what I'm planning on.

P.S. Just threw some seeds on the train as well.

@dragonsfire - Nice healthy looking plant, Neil! I added
your name to the list. You should see some flowers pretty
quick. I hope you get some gnarly pods from it.

Thanks!
hope I get some fruit soon, maybe put on the Porch.
JA Mushroom has fruit
TrippaulThreat Yellow has flowers, no fruit yet.
Alright, buddy, sounds like you will have your
hands full this winter! Good luck, my friend!

Many thanks to @PaulG for including these seeds in the 2019 seed train. I got some seeds from the train in 2020 and grew them this year based on some pics from people around here. Here are some pods I harvested this season - the coloring is amazing and the single plant I grew was really productive:

These were dried, ground up and put into small containers that are being shipped across the country to friends and family:

Hey, @HeatMiser, you can really see the
Bonda Ma Jacques genes from the Trippaul Threat in the same
broad shoulders and blocky shapes of the pods I've grown, com-
bined with the bhutish look from the Red Bhut Jolokia.

Thanks for posting those and for participating in the 2021
Purple Thunder grow! Are you thinking about growing some
of those next season?

Having a hard time keeping generations
I have grown straight, so

2015 - F1
2016 - F2 Red gnarly pods
2019 - F3 BJh series, gnarly red (1, 4, Mystery), yellow (2), orange (3) variants
2020 - F4 Purple Thunder yellow/caramel
2021 - F5 Purple Thunder yellow/caramel
2022 - on deck: F4 BJh-3 orange, blocky pods, or BJh-Mystery F4, Mystery DR (@Downriver F5)

Still looking for folk who would like to grow out
the seeds from the F5 Yellow/Caramel (or actually
any of the variants I have seeds for.)

For sure! Didn’t notice you still need people!

Haha I should probably read everything more instead of just skim reading.
My teachers used to tell me that all the time :lol::oops:
I should probably put out a thread asking for
growers rather than just post it in this thread.

PM me your address, and I will send some right
away, @NateMitch.

Purple Thunder seedlings in the red cups, ready to go forward!

Note the variation in foliage color on the
F4 BJh-3. Would be interesting to see
if the 'green' plant would produce yellow
gnarly pods without the caramel shading.
