Query on some plants I got growing

What is this bean? Looks like edamame beans to me. I got these as sprouts from a Korean grocery store near my place and I've been eating them for a while now. I just decided on trying to grow a few of these sprouts just to see if I could.

Also I bought this ornamental purple pepper plant that noone knew what variety it was. Could anyone help me?

Thanks guys.

I'm wondering why you cooked the sprouts. Is there a chance of germs being on them? ?
Looks like a purple cayenne. But I've been wrong before.

Sorta, they weren't exactly packaged properly. Got 'em off of a korean grocery store that had them in simple bags stored in a garbage bag inside a fridge.

Another reason why wanted to grow them. If i want fresh sprouts like those i'd rather grow my own and be sure i'm eating i know are safe.

Was actually waiting to see if i'll get sick after eating the sprouts after two straight days on munching on 'em.

Ciao franz-

Those are soybean/edamame sprouts. My Asian market carries them, too. They're sold right next to the mung bean sprouts which are what we round-eyes refer to as "bean sprouts". The bean halves are actually cotyledons or seed leaves for beans and those of the edamame sprouts are much larger than the mung beans.

where did you get this plant? the pods looks like the "taiwan pepper" that is being sold in most garden stores here. it might be a cross between that pepper and the other "purple pequin type" pepper (which they labelled "cambodian pepper" or "malaysian pepper") that the vendors are selling here. you know vendors here, they don't care about cross pollination.
