Rain, rain, rain... Seriously?

I've got 4 Bhut Jolokias and 32 more pepper plants currently soaking in my garden which is holding around 3 inches of water. All it has done this year is rain in Southern Indiana. From last month's record setting 12+ inches to having over 2 inches in the past two days. Frustrating to say the least.

Still have 100+ plants waiting for the rain to stop and the ground to dry out.

Sorry, just had to vent and figured most of my fellow pepper heads would understand.

:hell:

Well, June is looking mucho better for the midwest and the east, if you can believe this:

8-14 day forecast

Hang in there. The plants are like coiled springs waiting to launch given any opportunity....

I hear ya Gudenhot. I live NW Indiana and pretty much the same situation with rain. Had tornado warnings, strong wind advisories and all that fun stuff. It rained the last 4 days. It looks like the forecast has have 1 dry day tomorrow in the 60s then More rain for next couple days then into the 90's the following week! Well the good thing is I haven't had to water all but 1 day this year. On the other hand my soil is completely soaked.

Ahhh, getting our rain now? Luckily having lots of alcohol made up for the lack of food when we were stuck home for a week with the floods. Made for a very fun week, although I did have to get my gallbladder removed afterwards. Turns out a week long diet of drinking and eating potato chips isn't good for the ol' gallbladder.

If your Summer is anything like the one we got here in many parts of Australia, the rain will just keep on keeping on. I had an extremely bad growing season mostly due to the weather. I only watered my plants a few times all Summer. My house had some minor flooding in January and the new carpets were finally laid today.... long waiting list apparently.... I hope you have better luck. :)

It has been pretty ridiculous. It's almost June and the temperature is in the upper 40s right now. I had to put on a hoodie to go outside and grill tonight. Every time I check the forecast it's nothing but rain, thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, and flood watches. Last night a few tornadoes went through, a bunch of people lost power, there are trees ripped out of the ground or split in two everywhere. I can't get much of anything done because every time for the past month and a half that I get a little time to do some work outside it rains or storms like clockwork. Of course, a lot of people have lost their homes or loved ones from the floods in Australia and here, the earthquake in Japan, the tornadoes in the south, etc. so it's all relative and could be a lot worse.

Didn't you hear that old guy, the world started ending on may 21st...oops he meant october sometime. But yea, here in AL we have been getting hit pretty hard with rain and storms. Those tornadoes from late April one of them went about 13 miles south and another one about 20 miles north of my little town. I was very fortunate.

Same situation here, the ground hasn't dried out at all since earlier in the spring. Happily, I haven't lost any plants in the frequent storms.

It's been raining quite a bit here, too. My plants are already outside, so far so good--my only worries are protecting the plants *from* the rain. As in, preventing it from reaching them in the first place. I learned my lesson last year with bacterial spot; all of my pepper plants are in pots on the front porch this year. Hell if I'm gonna put them out in the garden and watch bacterial spot quickly infect them and take over... I'll be planting pumpkins in the garden instead.

Bleh... just the thought of peppers in a garden and heavy (and constant) downpours brings back some bad memories from last year...
