Review Question

Did not know where else to put this so here it is.. lol

Just curious, What software do y'all use for video capture.. Windows XP came with a rinky dink movie maker program... Vista has nothing.

I was thinking of doing a few reviews on youtube. However, im not trying to be like you heavy hitters here.. Right now I am weak as far as heat.. so if I try some of the sauces I have, Might be more like a comedy than a review ;)

Just have no idea what to use for capturing video, I have the cam & drivers, just no software.

hmm.. Thanks for the link Quad.. however Movie Maker does not find my cam even after reinstalling the drivers.

Going to have to find something else.

Thanks for any help

*Update* - I have found a video capture program, However the program is VERY basic & VERY crappy resolution.. Probably the Cam.. its a Kodak DVC325 at least 8 years old. lol

I don't use WMM for capture, just editing.

I take my vids with my digital camera on a tripod, copy the clips over from the SD card, then add into WMM to make a movie.

If ya have a digital camera that takes movies, it'll probably do a better job than any webcam IMO. I have a decent Logitech webcam, but the quality compared to the movies my Samsung S630 takes (or even my ancient Olympus 2MP) is ridiculous.

A real video camera would be even better of course, they're cheap now. Hell, most new cell phones have good cameras even...I just don't have one...heheh.

A tripod helps a lot too. Mine was like $10 on EBay.

If you look at my videos, you can tell which ones are done on webcam...and which aren't.

Your cam is no longer supported by Kodac or MS, which causes issues in newer OS's since the drivers are too old. What OS do ya have?

Here's possibly useful links for installing your cam:

Ahhhh.. That would explain a lot.. lol, I thought maybe it was not done with webcam.

Yea, my OS is Vista Ultimate.. Got the drivers to work on Yahoo, but WMM does not support my cam.. But that is no longer important.

Yea, i got a few Digital cameras.. only 1 takes video though (Nikon Coolpix 4100 & an old tripod)... i don't see myself needing to use the Camcorder though.. lol

Thank you for your help.. & who knows, might have a vid of something soon even if it is just an introduction at first ;)

Hmm, seems that camera only does 640 x 480, 15 fps...but it'd probably be fine. Try a clip and see, eh?

Heh, I bet my tripod is older...

Yup, it's fun no matter what. :)

lol.. maybe.. My tripod is off a pile o junk Vivitar Telescope. Plastic, but works well.. Even with the Video Camera.

I'm to ashamed to even post a pic of it... lol

lol.. I have realized I am a bit camera shy

It will take some getting used to. Did a few runs and the output seems decent.. seems better than 15 fps.. but factory specs, are factory specs.

Will have to do a couple more runs before I do an introduction for youtube & then I plan on doing a few Sauce reviews during the off season :)

Cool. :)

Ya good lighting helps a great deal too.

The software may be interpolating the video to a higher framerate than the camera can actually do...I know the Logitech cam 'cheats' that way.

BTW, on YT, you can mark a vid Private, if ya wanna test out how you like it first.

GL!
