rhm3769's 2014-in the ground!

So I'm setting aside 12 plants to attempt an overwintering.... looking at having 45 plants for 2014....
Plants I'm overwintering, 4 unlabelled supers that didn't produce, pimenta de neyde, purple flash, butch t, two unlabelled ornamentals from ajijoe, another unlabelled ornamental and pequin.
I have 11 varieties I'm waiting on from a sasbe offer here: super chili, aji pineapple, bishops crown, brazilian starfish, 7-pot jonah, datil, chocolate hab, f2 yellow fatali x red savina, and three wilds, c04392, c01225 and tc07246.

I have seeds saved from my last two seasons for orange manzano, rocoto amarillo, an okinawan variety, white habanero, golden habanero, tazmanian habanero, scotch bonnet, jamaican mushroom, yellow fatali, serrano, santa fe grande, aji limon and a few others.... I have to narrow down what I'm growing from my saved seeds....

Raised beds same as last year, about 4'x4', 9 plants per bed.... thinking I'm gonna go back to miracle gro, my first season in 1 gallon containers with miracle gro was better than this last one with fish emulsion and seaweed extract in raised beds....

Ouch, I hope the thermometer is just out of calibration.... the outside one says it is 120+ in direct sun....
Dropped some more seeds for c04392, 7 pot Douglah, Serrano, Santa few Grande, purple flash and white hab....
Still have a mix of some sweets to drop....

Finally hooked the hose up, gave everything a good watering, probably too early in the day, though.... still have a few hours of sun, but its mostly indirect pretty soon....
Its becoming too much trying to teach my three year old how to garden.... he wants to spray, he wants to dig, he wants to throw rocks and wants to feed them and step on plants and find worms and step on snails and play with sticks and get too close to areas prone to black widows and be too rough with the seedlings and pull them from the tray before im ready for them....

Disappointment today.... ive been expecting the move coming up in august with leaving the Marine Corps, but it didnt sink in until today.... if this season goes like last year, I either won't get pods by then, or ill just start getting flowers.... so im considering just picking a few varieties of what I have sprouted, picking up a few pots and going with those instead of the ground.... the ground hasn't exactly been working out so far.... of my o verwinters, the pdn is the only one that doesnt look terrible.... lost two of the 4 f2s. .. and of the other 4 seedlings in the ground, I have two left and they probably won't make it.... either everything is not taking up water properly or the ground is just drying out that fast....
Not even decided yet where we'll be moving to after im out, and I dont want to have 20+ potted pepper plants to get rid of if we leave cali....

....

Just about had it with these snails.... they wont touch all the compost pile tomato seedlings.... its like they have a homing device for the pepper plants....
From having over 30 seedlings, im down to about 10.... no time to start more seeds with the move in 5 months...

Score! The wife found a facebook post of someone moving and giving away their raised bed.... a tad bigger than 4'x8' and pretty deep, too.... and I got to keep the dirt and the plants.... 8 red and green bells total, and cilantro.... tomato plant isn't going to make it and I have an over abundance of tomato sprouts in the compost pile.... mint isn't gonna make it, and the roots took over the entire bed anyways....
Everything is already flowering.... they bought them from a nursery a few months ago, though....
