Hi there

I made a post asking about some spots on the leaves of my Bhut Jolokias. Over the course of 24 hours this has happened, to both my bhuts and habanero. It seems like the new leaves are going to be hit hardest. The flower buds on the Hab is also affected.

Is there anything I can do besides sit and watch my plants die. (*Dramatic violins playing*)

I had a bunch of rain a while back and some of my plants looked just like that. I removed the infected leaves. Sprayed with bonide 218 citrus and fruit orchard spray and they are on the slow road to recovery. Never just give up and watch them die slowly:)
 
Is it my imagination or do I see little black specs on that second larger picture? Try looking at them with a magnifying glass and see if it’s outside the leaves, could be some bug. If it is, 1 gallon of water and 2 oz. of dish soap, spray the leaves & stems and leave soapy solution on ½ hour, then rinse it off with fresh water spray. Do this early morning and late afternoon before sunset, if the plants are too small/young (I can’t tell from pics) use 1 oz. of dish soap instead. If they’re large enough, you might not even have to rinse them. BTW only do this if it’s bugs, if it’s viral or some infection then google H2O2, mix some up and spray with that. Good luck and never give up the ship :D
 
It does look like a bug got to them, but also the top one looks like it got too wet and maybe bacteria or a fungus got a hold of it. How often are you watering?

I water maybe twice a week when the leaves start to droop. I do have it in a growing cloche though and maybe I need to ventilate it better. These plants are around 5 months old and just about to set flowers in the next month or so.

I spray them with a Neem-oil colloid every fortnight and it seems like the indoor plant (http://imgur.com/TJq4y4W) has the same problem as the one's in the cloche. I am fighting!! lol. I sprayed copper sulphate a few minutes ago in the case of a fungal infection. Would that be good for bacteria too?

WIll do, thanks. I normally dont water that often. Once a week, twice a week tops if it gets hot and the plants look dry. I do use neem-oil. works a charm. I doubt this is a bug-problem.

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering what I could do in the case that it is a viral infection. (Not at all impossible..)
 
Too much neem oil? I would get some air circulating on them, that should help dry up any fungus/mold issue. Growing in an air tight cloche is creating a perfect environment for molds.

I have noticed in our warm Ga weather. To spray with liquid copper. Before the rains set in (and even during the rains). As it helps prevent bacteria leaf spot on warm humid nights. Especialy any late evening rains. Had way less yellow leaf drop doing that last year. But liquid copper only helps prevent, not cure.

Edit: Kind of with Patrick on his response. Either too much, or too little neem used. As if too much is used you can add a film of neem that seems to block oxy to the leaves. An too little let's the critters run a muck threw all their cycles. As I'm pretty sure I read neem works on everything BUT eggs. So you would've had to treat a couple of days later to kill the eggs after they hatched. An every fortnight would keep the adult cycle going.
