Sauce FAIL!

Hey just thought i would share how to NOT make a sauce.

Ingredients: 8 "hot chillis" dunno what kind
9 frozen red savinas
1 frozen orange hab
1 can of peeled roma tomatoes
1 clove garlic
1 teaspoon rock salt
6 grinds of black pepper
1 pinch of coriander powder
Juice of one lemon
Tablespoon of champagne vinegar

3 minutes in the microwave substituted for boiling, an immersion blender used to blend.

Don't do it, it doesn't taste nice at all. I am taking some to hippies this afternoon for sh!ts and giggles.

Tastes real citrusy. Could be the lemon?
I really just threw it together for my boy as he wanted to help make a potion! It's the tomatoe base that ruins it i think.

yeah you made chili. congrats. add beef next time. ;)

Good idea, i may just have to dump both woozies into a pot with some cow.

@Quad i always use rock salt. I would use proper salt (the grey moist stuff) but i am too lazy to find some.

Rock salt is also useful for use in a shotgun. :D

Hmm...o0... a twisted idea!

Mix Naga powder with the rock salt in the 12-gauge....THAT"D wake somebody up in a hurry eh?

ah...I use limes instead of lemon...more mellow. And carrots instead of tomatos.

Salute', TB.

Yeah i usauly do use limes, sometimes just a little lemon juice to perk it up. I got the lemon for free though! :) I also haven't ever used tomatoes in a sauce before that i can remember.

As for the carrots can't you think of something a little more inventive?? May just have to adjust the meter if your response doesn't shape up.

It tastes like crap because you forgot to cook it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three minutes in the microwave?????? It didn't cook, it got hot. Sauces need to be cooked down.

Also needs more acid (vinegar, lose the lemon since you said it messed it up).

I took it to Neils last night. He smelt it and said "hmmm actually doesn't smell that bad". One taste though and the look on his face proved otherwise!
In my defence this was not really ever going to turn out a gourmet even nice sauce. Put it this way if you don't fall off once in while you ain't trying hard enough!

the ingredients themselves sound pretty good. myabe more vinegar. I've made sauces as well with the roma tomato base and haven't been too impressed, although I'm determined to make it work one of these days.

Maybe the mixture of 8 hot chili's just didn't fit with the mix.
