yeah, very interesting.. "heat brings heat", funny, I would have thought less stress would have made them hotter.. who knew!
Nice read, but how much recognition does she want? Trinidad is in the name, which tells the world where it is from. If you walk up to someone on the street and ask, hey where does the Trinidad Jack R apple come from, almost everyone will say, Trinidad. I dont think Butch T is getting residuals off of every seed or plant sold. In the same right, neither would Trinidad.
She is right in saying that they missed the boat, but most growers know that tomorrow there may be a new hottest pepper. Look at the Brain Strain. Trinidad or Dr Holder can be pissed, until Guinness tests a new World's Hottest. I would say that if anything the Butch T moniker does nothing to deter me from seeking out hotter peppers in Trinidad.
If I had a vacation lined up to go on a pepper search, Trinidad and the surrounding area would be on the list, not Australia. Now, if I wanted to go dive the world's greatest reef, I would go to Australia. I say, who cares who named it, it is a Trinidad Scorpion, Not Australian Scorpion.

Trinidad dropped the ball here, along with Dr. Holder. They certainly have had ample time to produce a stable strain of the TS, aside from the Butch T, that would overtake the Bhut as the hottest pepper. They were either lazy or just didn't care enough to pursue it and now that it's been done without them, they cry foul? If it means that much to them/her, maybe they should get busy....MGOLD, you are 110% right on!
It seems strange to me that she says there are claims the plant "originates" in Austrailia. I've never seen an article or anyone claiming such. Only the world record pepper was grown in Austrailia. Plus, only this "strain" if it is a separate strain from the original TSR is named after an American. No one is calling all TSR's "Butch-T" although I guess it is possible some TSR's are being passed as Butch T on ebay (if you're lucky
