"Seed Train" Imposters

I meant to post something like this a few months ago, but got busy and forgot. I was going through my PM's today and remembered...

About 3 months ago I got a PM from a fellow member saying he had got some seeds from me via the "seed train" in the Marketplace forum, and was looking forward to growing them out. I told him I had never participated in the seed train, but I have traded and given away a bunch of seeds over the years, and asked what kind of seeds they were out of curiosity. He sent me a photo of a seed baggie that said bhut x douglah with my screen name on it. It wasn't my handwriting. It didn't say "OP" or "ISO", there was no year written on it, nor did it say f2 or f3 etc. I always have, and always do write all of that info on all of my bags of seeds. On top of that, I have never even grown, nor ever had seeds for bhut x douglah. I told him they were not my seeds, and therefore probably not what they said they were.

Anyway, this is just a heads up to members of the seed trains. I don't know why someone would do something like that. I'm guessing it was someone that doesn't like me for whatever reason going out of their way to give me a bad reputation or something like that. I wonder how much of this happens in the seed trains, and curious if others have similar stories?

OP - Open Pollenated

ISO - Isolated (self pollenated)

One potential solution to this problem could be taking a picture of everything you add to a train, that way there are no forgeries.

Wow - that's terrible. Having gotten to know you a bit on here I cannot imagine what kind of a-hole would do such a thing, but shame on them.

Good way to get someone's personal contact info too now that I think of it - pretend to be someone trustworthy in order to glean information - "hey, I'm sending out seeds - need your name/address/phone number...ok, cool, now hang on while I try to hack your bank account"

Lame.

Somebody should put up a pic of the handwriting.  And that way everyone can cross reference.

Person can be found and flogged.

Perhaps is was someone passing along extras from a previous trade, and they wanted to make sure the source was properly credited?
Good thought but musky said he's never grown this cross before.

Cool. Does it look C.Chinense? You will have to let me know what it produces later in the season. My guess is still grocery store orange habs.

Sometimes they cause confusion, e.g., when the unedited title solicits—in bold, all-cap letters—multiple new participants while say, 19 pages in, it's, "Sorry, folks: we're closed."

Open!  Shut.  At the same time.

All aboard . . . the Crazy Train.

On further thought this wouldnt really work, someone could just switch out your seeds for theirs..
