sharing the addiction

Funny thing happened today, I wanted to share with you all. I have lived w/ my better half for about four and a half years now, and during that time she has laughed at me for my love of all things hot, and complained about the space the soil additives, all the pots and buckets, the cabinet full of preserved peppers, all the hot sauces and peppers in the fridge and freezer, the time and all the other things that go along w/ my Chile addiction. So she has been in Bermuda for two weeks, and stopped home in PA for a bit to see her parents before coming back to NC. Today she was at a nursery in PA and I get a text saying they had pepper plants for $.50 and she bought me one of type, 10 plants in all, which means 10 more pots, and more in the freezer or fridge or cabinet. I thought I would share this because it was funny to me and I thought many of you might have similar stories, if so please share them!

While dreaming of finished superhots, and a day where I might be able to eat crazy hot peppers like.. almost all the ones I'm growing..  my Girlfriend comments that with all the peppers we're growing, she dreams of being a chile master who can eat all the hot things too.

Coincidental shared dreams, and definitely spreading the addiction :)

My advice, start w/ powders and greatly diluted sauces and work your way up!
Or just get crazy and fry your face off until you can take them easily :D

Common stuff to be sure, but several I am not growing:
Jalapeño, hot banana
Mariachi, pimento
Poblano , Anaheim
Thai hot

Can't beat it for 50 cents a plant!  I love Thais...the cherry bombs are probably my favorite pickling pepper

Haha...this is great...im fairly new to peppers....last year i grew jalapenos...decided to over winter them so they spent the winter in the corner of our bedroom...whole time wife rolling her eyes complaining about the pots in the corner..now this year growing more jalapeno...cayenne..trinidad scorpions..ghost peppers and habeneros. Keeps asking me why im growing so many peppers. what are you going to do with all of them? i dunno. will cross that bridge when i get there. now ordered some seeds from judy this morning...hahah...she thinks im nuts im sure.

After sharing more about this forum and even mentioning this post, my GF has decided to sign up for THP later :D So thanks for bringing this kinda stuff up hehe.

I'm also growing the Orange Hab and some Anaheims. Good luck with your plants :)

Yeah my wife thinks I lost it...she is a gardener herself and we share responsibility on the garden but the peppers are solely mine..I built 2 bleacher looking stands that have 3 levels that hold about 9-10 plants and don't block each other from sun and I can grow 10 plants in a fairly small area ....once the cold weather gets here I will move as many as I can fit into my grow tent in the basement with my 600w HPS that she purchased for me..love my wifey... but this was after I built her one as well for her potted babies (lettuce, jarring cucumbers, container strawberries etc)

Here is the bleacher thing I was talking about ...yeah she thinks I'm crazy but oh well

It's an older pic, i might start a grog so holding onto the newer pics till I decide wether or not to grog or not

No problem! I've been trying to get her interested in peppers for years,And she loves lots of the things I make w/ the milder peppers, Thai is about her limit, but her eyes glaze over when I start talking species and growth habits, and nutrient uptake, etc. Of course, whenever she finds out one of her clients or friends like really hot food, BAM, guess who ends up giving away some powder or hot sauce!

I nearly fell off my chair laughing at this this! Had to read it out aloud to my wife....seems this is truly a universal problem! I have just finished making a BBQ sauce that would re ignite dormant volcanoes for my wife's colleague.

I believe most ppl in the world with an obsession, have someone whose eyes glaze over when they talk about it!

if your wife thinks you don't have sex enough tell her the really hot peppers boost your libido......
If she thinks you have sex more than enough already, tell her that the really hot ones dull your libido ;)

Off topic, but what kind of pots are those? DIY? Looks interesting.
