Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

I saw quite a lot of grow logs out here, which inspired me to make one myself. I thought that I could also use this as an opportunity to learn from the more experienced growers as well. A bit about me:

1. At this point in time, I'm 16, likely making me one of the younger growers here.
2. Although I like to mess with all things technology, I also like gardening as well
3. This is my first time growing peppers, so I'm hoping that everything goes well!

Now, onto the peppers.

A bit under 2 weeks old, when they were still under my now sold HPS bulb. My first sprout is the one in the big pot.

Taken just now, 1 month 1 day old, few days after the last photo. The growth has EXPLODED ever since they were placed in the tent. The one in the very front is the Bhut, or so I believe, and the other 3 are the Butch Ts, one in the very back being my first sprout.

...Wow. I thought my thread would have sunken into the abyss. I've been busy with a lot of other stuff, and ever since I brought these guys outside, mother nature has taken care of them for me, for the most part. Alright, lemme fill you guys in with a brief summary.

So I brought my plants out around... Early April. The cold night time temperatures caused them to defoliate and go into a state of hibernation. It wasn't until around early May when they started to grow leaves again. Since then, they have grown a huge multitude of buds. My season is looking pretty good so far! It will be prolific.

This is the 65th day, 9 weeks and two days into the outdoor growing season.

The Bhut/Jalapeno Hybrid. It's a very shrubby and prolific plant. I managed to harvest well over 60 pods during the indoor growing project. I can also count dozens of emerging buds on this plant. As a matter of fact, one has already opened!

The Giant Jalapeno plant, aged 78 days, 11 weeks and one day. This plant is for a friend of mine. Overall, the plant's scent is very strong, exactly like a Jalapeno! It's quite small, but I think the small 32 oz cup is the cause for it. I just transplanted it today, so hopefully, it will grow much larger. Unfortunately, the sickly Douglah plant isn't doing as well, as you see on the right.

A closeup of the emerging Jalapeno buds. The Annum flowers are very fat in comparison to the more slender flowers of the Chinense. They look like they're ready to open soon.

I think I'll post regularly now, seeing how you guys are starving for updates! Sorry guys, didn't know I was that famous! :P
 
Wow awesome update!!! Now how could we forget about Shig's glog??? That ButchT looks gigantic! I wish I had my own yard! :(
 
Wow, I didn't know that chiles would come back so fast if they lost their leaves to cold. Also, that any temps. cold enough to make them drop their leaves wouldn't kill them outright. Good on yer mate!
 
Wow... I haven't posted here in the longest of times... Sorry guys. I think I'll need to update quite a lot:


Day 125. Simply, a hailstorm hit us here, a huge hailstorm. This caused extensive damage to the plants, and they were pretty much nothing but twigs. However, they sprung back super quick, only about 2 weeks to grow all the leaves back. Not to mention, the hailstorm also seemed to spark growth in the Trinidad Douglah, and now it's the bushiest plant in the fleet! It's been about a month since the hailstorm now, and here they are:

Glad to see you're out and about. It's a real drag to get partway through the season and then get knocked back to square one by the weather, but it seems like no permanent harm done, and you've got pods on the way! Cheers

Hey, Shigs, it's been awhile since I checked in. Glad I didn't
have to go through 25 pages to catch up! Your grow is looking
awesome for having to start over twice due to low temps and hail!
Man, you, Bonnie (Highalt), and ColoradoRonin just blow me away
growin' in the high desert!
