My venerable 4 year old TS CARDI Yellow, has quite a decent sized woody trunk on him… measuring over an inch diameter all the way up to the Y section. The plant has given up sending out new growth lower down the trunk as I have always stripped it off, resulting in Bonchi type habit, especially at the start of each new season. Here are some recent photos..

Looks like I’m in for another good year from this plant, first pod has now set.

I cut back hard root and branch each year, here is a pic of the initial re-growth earlier in the year.

I'm working on developing a fat trunk on a pepper plant. At this point its to embarrassing to post pictures lol.

It's full of flowers and pods now but..
My Bonchi Bhut. He's going into a larger container when the season is over. My biggest trunk container plant but my biggest trunk goes to my in-ground 3 year old Tabasco. About 2" in diameter. My Fatalii probably has the lowest, thickest trunk. Might make him a bonchi after season.
