Shurb's 2014 GLOG

Well, I guess I'll get started seeing as I've now got my first hooks well before season start.

So, I got me one of them heated propagator thingimadoobawackies and popped in 3 Habanero Orange seeds and 3 Whippets Tails for a test.
The Hab's decided to work it out. No go on the Whippets, but I think that's because it dried out at one point. Oh well, one pod has thousands of seeds, so all good :D

Here's the Habanero Orange hooks in soil next to an avocado the missus is trying to get started.

And here they are. Ain't they cute?

Here's the indoor setup

Top: Them ones I did dun just showed you.
Middle: Pubes - Red Rocoto, Yellow Rocoto, Rocoto San Isidro, Canario, Mini Rocoto.
Bottom: Habanero Chocolate overwinter. It got a little bit of the stuntie during the season, and it only gave me one good pod, but I decided to let it recover inside and it's going well!

Habanero Chocolate (I'll get a better pic soon, I promise!)
It's got buds forming too, which is cool.

Canario - State the obvious, Shurb!

Outdoor overwinters. That Bell is the only pod to produce and it's still growing. We'll see if I get a ripe red one...

That's all for plant porn for now. In the coming weeks, I'll be getting some new one's started, care of this little package from JungleRain.
(Bottom right is Manzano Orange)

Thanks for stopping by :)

Heya Shurb, been awhile! Plants looking great ;-)

My rocoto dropped flowers left and right for the longest time too. Didn't really set pods until like September or October. I got may a handful of ripe pods. Heat must do them in.

Niiiice man! So Jealous. Do you keep them under shade at all? I think that was my problem this year. Should have put up some shade clothe to help keep them cool over the summer.

Funny thing is I still got two Rocoto plants outside trucking along with temps as low as -4C some nights lol. The leaves are all gone, but the fruit are still in tact and starting to show some color. Pretty crazy. Dunno how much longer this will last though.

Yeah they're on a verandah facing N/N/E and they barely get any sun, but quite a lot of light is about. The only thing I've had to worry about with them is the aphids =\

Got some more pics that I was unable to post the other day.
