I Googled it and the fruit looks very interesting. Any body got any feedback on the fruit this thing produces?

6m currently. Literature says it grows to 15m but I don't have the ability or climate to take it to those heights. It is dropping all it's flowers and I fear it will not fruit with only 40 frost free days left.

I have another one in the Aculeigerum group growing as well. The name is S.glaucescens and it has a similar habit but somewhat different. It just started setting pods after 100s upon 100s of dropped flowers.

Here are some current photos of shit quality. After I get it staked up securely I will try to get some accurate photos and measurements. For reference,the tip of the green stake in previous photos is in the severe bend you see in this picture.. So it's put on close to another 2m.

S.glaucescens how remarkable and the growing habit is remarkable to say the least and the photos are fine, I admire you for taking these plants on they truly are wonderful things to behold.Thank you for sharing.

Thanks! I have mental and physical scars from growing Solanums. Most are equipped with spikes and some,like this one,need a really long season. I wish I had a way to winter it for next year but it's not possible.
 
It grew to 30' and after a few severe storms, broke the support and fell. Interestingly enough, it bent in half and did not break. It began growing along the ground before putting out soccer ball sized inflorescences of 100 flowers or so. Never did set berries! It's really difficult to grow some of these Solanaceae in zone 5. Most respond well to the fall season here but there are only 2 weeks of that before frosts. I did root a couple cuttings but not sure I have the desire to try again.
 
Amazing! I've never even heard of this species before. Great pictures as well. Shame it wouldn't set fruit, such is the predicament of those living with frost. Incredible nonetheless, please do update the thread if anything comes out of the cuttings.
