Spicy Chickona's MMXIII Grow Log

Hello everyone.

Wasn't going to do a grow log this year, but then thought maybe someone could learn from my mistakes. ;o(

So here we go. last year I started my plants mid January and paid the price with mr frost, it was difficult watching everyone starting their plants.

Start off with the building of the new grow light boxes and maybe will get some germination going by tomorrow.

OK so... The question is do we think you should grow the reaper??? My own opinion is no. I would rather see the Dorset Naga..Why? Because My seeds are shit and I want to see it grow... OH And the Fish Pepper... to compare.... just my 2 cents.

I dunno on the Reaper Jeff...some folks have gotten good germ rates but many not...maybe just a few in one of your raised beds...or 6 of your raised beds...

Dang Jeff, those shelves are looking great! But then, I guess we've all come to expect that when we see you build something :)

Mighty interested in seeing what your going to grow this year but as for the Reaper, I have to agree with what Shane said. I thought about getting some seed and giving them a try but decided instead to see how they do for everyone else who's growing it this year and maybe trying them myself next year.

Really looking forward to following you this year. Not only your grow but to see you finish your 2 builds as well. Cheers to a great growing season,

Bill

Good to see the pro's starting up. Only 4000 this year chicken? You getting lazy in your old age? ;)

I'd go for the Reaper. I started 10, nine germinated and lost one to a seed cap. They seem to be doing well.

Looking forward to watching your season, best of luck.

Just wondered into this thread and like many others I will be back for more and more as the season goes along. Many thanks for the inspiration!!

Jeff is that the "Bomb Shelter" from last years project or is this a completely different grow area ?

No I didn't get to finish that last year, just to much work in the real world. :tear: Just some unused space in the barn.

Thanks all for stopping by and wishing me a great season! Dido!!

Just a quick update on the progress, still don't have the list of what I'm growing yet, but will.

You know Jeff...you should really lay off the ice cream! There are a lot of frozen yogurt brands on the market today that are just as tasty as the real thing! :liar:

lol. Actually when I bought them they had carrots and celery in them, it just said Ice cream.

Darn It I forgot. appreciate the impute on the reaper thing, some for, some against.

I did put the seeds in the dirt, there were 70 total so at the very least we will see germination rates with this type of technique. The seeds won't get any younger by the year so guess I will see what happens and learn my lesson.

Jeff.

Geez Jeff, there may not be anything exciting to see, but there sure is a lot of it! Are these all Chinense or a mix?

Thanks Rick,

95% are Chinense. and not habs this year. most everything is above 600K and plan on sticking with only 4 to 5 thousand this year.

Getting tired at my age and looking to pass the torch.

Love the grow shelf. Amazing to see such a large scale grow. You seem to have one plant in every cell. Did you sow multiple seeds per cell and already culled?

Thanks Danial, If I had enough seed, 3 per cell and then cull if the plants are close to each other within the same cell, the Jonah's in the pic only had 1 possibly 2 per cell and did not do any culling yet. I will wait for the first set of true leaves.

Love the grand scale operation Jeff, keep up with the updates. :D

I'm looking at 50-60 plants by early May and I am worried what to do with all of them. Your operation is truly impressive.

Looking promising Jeff. I like how just that one tray is like the whole of most peoples grows and you've got 32 of them going at the moment. Love it! Looking forward to seeing the next load of pics you post.

Best wishes
