I started way early for last year's season. It ended up being a lot of extra work for little reward. Starting in February is the way to go unless you have lots of lights and space to spare.

Right, for southern climates they really get their growth spurt when placed out doors anyway and the growing season is long enough, so why fuss with the indoor grow hassle. Just get em large enough indoors to set outside to coincide with when it's warm enough to do so and everything will be peachy. ;)
