Tampa FL?

mrs. blues is goin' on a 2 week 'bidness trip to Miami, Vero Beach and then on to Tampa next month.

Her company is paying all expenses and footing the bill for a plane ticket for yours truly ta' boot to go meet up with her for about 4 days on the last leg of the trip in Tampa.

I told her I'd go as long as I get to eat seafood every day.

She wants to go to Bonefish Grill as she and her gal pals like the Bang Bang Chicken they have there. Chicken at a seafood joint? mrs. blues is crazy like that and yeah I know its a chain.

What say y'all about the joint?

What other recommendations for seafood joints do y'all have?

How about a Cuban sammich? Ybor City?

I don't cotton to on-line reviews much as in my experience they are often fugazi. I've been to plenty of joints that got stellar reviews but were absolute crap. Y'all know what I mean.

Anybody fish at Cypress Point Park? Reckon I might as well bring the fly rod bein' that close to the water n' all.

Tampa looks like a nice town and I'm lookin' forward to the trip. Too bad I won't have any extry days else wise I'd head down to my favorite hangout in the keys. Marathon.

skippers, some nice live blues also!

bonefish grill is o.k.  ive been seversl times in murfeesboro tn.  my wife was talking to one of her friends today that just left there for a interview.

as far as a cuban they are hit and miss.  i would search out a mom and pop kinda place not ybor.  you have one of the best steak houses in the world at ybor though.

also anything on the causeway will be solid for sea food. way better than the bonefish

Much obliged y'all.

Bonefish G is mandatory as mrs. blues wants to hit it and likes it a lot.

After that I want to hit some other joints maybe as Sic suggested along the causeway.

I want some grilled mahi, some grouper, and all the shrimp I can stand while I'm in Tampa.

An awesome mom & pop Cubano would be icing on the cake.

Dang TB, too bad you can't meet up with the Mrs's in Miami, SoFlo would show you it all go sho! You should put a shout out for any member to meet up somewhere while your there. I know there are some local to Tampa, I'm on the other coast though.

I'm hoping it will work out that I meet up with a few folks even if its just for a couple of beers.

I am however at the discretion of mrs. blues and her agenda and have been informed that I'll be on a tight leash.

This trip is really all about her.

But hey, she got me a new car for my birthday!

Your Cuban sandwich can be found at Hugo's in Hyde Park. The place has been around for a long time. If you do check out Skipper's, be forwarned........the Mrs. may balk at the outward appearance. The place looks like a third world shanty, but the grouper sandwich is renowned to be one of the best. Hugo's is open until 5pm and Skippers is closed on Monday I believe.

Have fun!
Oh......Whiskey Joe's on the causeway has been around for decades. Gator bites, calamari, and Manhattan Clam Chowder......Yum. party atmoshere on the weekends.....you can ride up to the place on watercraft.

Much obliged for the advice LS.

I'd previously checked out Skippers on line and had added it to my list of possibilities. The onliest 'thang that turned me off was they brag big beaucoup on the fact they've been on the food network. I'm all for 'rangin' my own bell as it ain't braggin' when its the truth but more often than not restaurants have a difficult time living up to the hype. I reckon I'll take the Pepsi challenge and see for myself whether or not they do. Lots of stuff on the menu that mrs. blues can dig on too!

Hugo's I didna' know about. I couldn't find a website for them. That can be a good 'thang. I did see one of their menu's on line and it looks like they got some real deal Cuban fare. Viejo ropa. Picadillo. A boliche', and of course a Cuban. Price's look dern good too although I don't much care about price when it comes to good food. As they say..."if you can't afford the tip...."

Seafood and Cuban's in Tampa.

I can't wait!

Thanks heaps LadySic!
