The humane thing to do...

Gassy, That's cool that your flatmate's cat took a liking to you. Doesn't always work out that way. You're an animal lover, fo' sho'.
 
I feel your pain. My GSD is about 12 yrs old with bad hips that are getting worse. I know soon I'll be standing in your shoes.

The cat came after me. ;) But it's very cool she took a liking to both of us... she had actually spent the first part of her life going from home to home (fostering kind of deal) until she ended up my flatmate. Just prior to ending up with my flatmate, she had also spent 6 months on the street (a running away incident). It's been amazing watching her grow to trust us. What hurts the most is having to put her through another big change and the "break up of the family". :(
