The Weather Thread

Don't think we have a weather thread here, so what's the weather like where you are?  Discuss weather and weather events of any kind here.

28C in Melbourne at 3pm, partly cloudy. Big storms in NW Vic and Adelaide, they are saying chance storms for us tonight but 99% of the time any storms that get within spitting distance die right in the ass.

This coming week will be in the mid to upper 60's daytime dropping to the low to mid 40's at night. I'm still waiting for some habs, caribbeans, serranos and jalepenos to ripen :)

Some thunderstorms popped up on the Melbourne radar, they are fail whaling their way well to the south, but it's a good sign for later on tonight. Better start slamming the beers. Nothing like watching lightning on a warm evening while getting high off booze.

sucks!!

but know what the garden is out earlier than other years    im haappy!!! :woohoo:

Virginia is the schizophrenic wizard of microclimates.  Currently it's rather cold, around 25F (around -4C)  but don't let that fool you, we have a habit of experiencing all four seasons within two days here during winter.  It isn't uncommon for us to have a January with summer temperatures for two weeks and then drop below freezing with blizzards and ice storms in February.  The dry winter air I've seen humidity indices as low as 3% so the dry air is a big problem for indoor seedlings.

We have hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc.  During summer it gets above 100F (38C) consistently and the humidity is like breathing syrup.  We'll have a supercell roll through that may or may not have funnel clouds that can drop the temperature from 100F down by 40 degrees in a matter of minutes and drop golf ball sized hail.

Oh, on top of that, the common noreaster winter storms typically hit my area harder than anywhere else.  They'll be in New York talking about a "record 18 inches of snow" and I'll be out here in central Virginia with over 3 feet XD

Sweating the year's first near-freezing temps predicted for Sunday night.
I may have move the most productive plants into the shed, cover the rest, and hope for the best.

Those that survive will enjoy high 70s by the end of the week.  :)

Just a typical early 'Winter' here in Aridzona!

Moomba, in the South Australian desert, recorded an overnight low of 32.8C last night! Some very high temps for November today in NSW,

44.5C at Cessnock Airport
44.9C at Penrith in western Sydney
45.3C at Richmond in western Sydney.
45.7C at Cobar
45.8C at Bourke

The coastal suburbs of Sydney only managed to reach the low 30's due to seabreeze.

Well no storms here last night as typical, but did see some distant lightning.

Do you get the monsoonal storms that far south?  Summer lightning is great fun, but the high winds kinda suck for the plants.

We don't have a monsoon season. Storms generally occur when moist air from the north interacts with a cold front or trough.

Had some rumbles on and off all day today, otherwise nothing spectacular.

Light rain falling in Sparks, NV, with a dusting of snow at Truckee. Expected to be cloudy tomorrow with rain continuing for the next week or so in CA. Which sucks balls for my farmers markets.

We had our first snow of the year on Wednesday, it will be gone today or tomorrow as it is going to be unseasonable warm for a couple days 50F

We have had two snows in the last week, each about 10 inches. The last one on Wednesday was wet and heavy with the temps in the low 30's. Plowing was fun, if you like plowing wet, sloshy, shit. LOL Yesterday the temps fell down, 20º was the high and 15 mph winds was not fun, pretty tho, not a cloud in the sky. This morning we woke up to -8º. Yup, minus eight.

We happened to notice the winds up at the top of Mt. Gardner, (that's where the Grinch lives) and shot this picture. It's not a blurry picture, it's blowing snow.

I'm sorry but that just looks bloody cold up there!
