This has probably been asked, but .... is there any benefits to keeping the lights on 24/7 ?

Or is there eventual drawback to this method ?  I have 2-3 month old seedlings under the lights.

You will get mixed answers on this. IMO, every living thing needs periods of rest, including plants. Others say otherwise. Many find that the overnight growth spurts that happen when plants have a period of darkness each night outweigh the growth of 24/7 light.

I'd suggest you decide for yourself - do some 24/7 and others with periods of rest, then over the course of the season see which do better. That way you won't be going on other people's opinions, but on your own observation.

Absolutely, if you are heavily invested in Com Ed stock. Other than that, I would say no. As a matter of fact, I am going to try an 8/16 cycle this winter. I ran a 12/12 and seen no adverse effects.

18-20 hours of light at most is what I would suggest for seedlings.

I don't use any more than 18 hours on adult plants.

Honestly, I see little or no difference from the 1000 watts of light in my greenhouse running more than 18 hours - except for on my electricity bill.
