Have trademarks and lawyers become a tool to attack the competition without cause?  According to the guy who started Elixirs of Pain, the people who own the trademark on the company name NW Elixirs sent a cease and diciest order.  Evidently, nobody is allowed to use the word elixir but them.

So I thought,  should trademark the term AJ Sauce and then tell everyone they can not use the word sauce.

Anyone can send one. I could send one to you right now. Just ask a lawyer to draft one. Done.
 
Sometimes it is legit, sometime's not, that is for a judge to decide, and that costs $250,000-$750,000 to fight, all costs considered. So a lot of times people try to settle on their own. Courtesy letter, scare tactic, or shame in public (there is history on this as well).

Tip: Don't get involved. It's dirty. (Not the one you mentioned, just in general.)

Hybrid, I thought to go a different route.  The money is in curse words.  With so many swear jars, we are already used to paying to use the words.  Just send me your jar each month.
 
Hot Pepper, kind of what I mean.  Company A has money because they are successful.  They hire a lawyer to write a fancy letter full of lies to scare Company B into going away.  Had room mate who made a book jacket and t shirts: Necronomicon for Dummies.  The Dummies book people went gono on him.  He told them to go screw themselves and gave them the exemptions for parody and satyr.  Thing is, he had nothing to loose.  He lived in my spare bedroom, worked odd jobs, always on time with his rent but just barely.  Thinking people with something to loose and not enough money for lawyers are easy victims.

Why is it always "LIES" with you? Some people are interested in protecting what they built with blood sweat and tears. All of your arguments are one sided.

OCD. D does it. They think the world can or could be "fair" - quite possibly the most loaded word, evar.
I bet AJ would eat up some socialism ...

There may be a dash of paranoia in this recipe. Everyone is out to get you. Or out to get the small guy. Or out to get the real businessman, because the big guy is fake. And a liar.
