Trident's Bonnets 2016

Once again it's that time of year ... sowing miss labelling and no shows. Thank you to all that have helped me find new and obscure bonnets and hybrids. This forum generosity has been staggering and the Christmas Cards across the pond full of seed have worked well in both directions ... clone tent cleaned T5's dusted off

Having successfully grown Borg9, UBSC Brown and Yaki last season I thought I would again grow a few hotties after a lot of thought I have chosen four ... Aji Jobito x BBG7 - Fiogga (Sandra) ... alot has been said about Aji Jobito all good things ... seed from Joe Delaney and BBG7 from Chris Phillips - would be nice if everyone included a seed/variety in this year's grow of Chris's

I am sure Sandra would not mind me posting her photograph

Well we have all heard and seen the great work "Medecins Sans Frontiers" do around the world especially in war torn areas. Sandra's daughters partner is part of Doctors Without Borders and probably whilst her daughter might say "take care" Sandra may say "If you see a chilli grab it" .. I love a story so my second hottie is simply another of hers named "DWB Columbia Red with tail"

Finally third and fourth choice "Arkansas Peach" a Sawyer Reaper variation I understand - Pulpiteer ... Moruga x Douglah - Snagglepus ... Knowing me there may well be more ... thank you for looking

Your plants are so damn healthy.  I wish all mine looked like that.  I have some, but for every one I have that looks close to yours I have one that looks like a stray dog with rabies.  Mine need planted soon as they need to stretch their roots and get some nutes.  I have a whole tray in the basement still that I fear a lot of them are having nutrient lockout or just need some serious nutes.  The soild should have enough in it to get them by a while, but some are so damn pale now they are practially white.  Probably what I get for trying to manage 500 plants, which is about 400 more than I should.  Keep up the good work, hope the ones I sent turn out good for you.

Can't wait to see how they do, as you're off to a great start.
Thanks Devv the weather in the UK is improving and all us chilli heads are starting to think about getting our plants out in the green house/poly tunnel

Looks good John. Very nice looking plants. It won't be long before you get them out. Can't wait to see the progress.
Thank you Chuck to be honest I have been lucky and managed to keep the pests at arms length ... I have been told that I have OCD when it comes to grow tent cleanliness but if it keeps the little blighters away I am happy ... good organic compost helps as well I think ..

Wow, just found your glog John, and you are the Bonnet King! All looking most excellent, and your season should run on rails when you finally transplant outside.

What are your summers like by the Channel coast? Is your garden near the water, and how much does it affect your weather?

Sorry I missed this Rick ... I live in Hampshire which as a county has a coast line unfortunately I live in the most northerly part which borders with the Royal County of Berkshire otherwise known as Thames Valley. Saying that being in the south of England helps and we probably get more sun than most however we will never be able to match your heat and humidity. Growing chillies is a challenge however hydroponics, poly tunnels and greenhouses ensure we get results later in the year. Last year I was still harvesting in late October. What affects our weather is the Gulf Stream and how much moisture it picks up across the Atlantic which eventually it dumps on us recent years it's been poor so fingers crossed for a good summer

Funny... I'm from Berkshire County in Massachusetts. :)  It sounds like your weather may be similar to what the Cornish get.

Plants look great John, looking forward to seeing how they pan out for you this season. Your pe(s)t looks like a Mudhound/Poodle cross... ;)

Small world Rick .... The little fellow is a "Bichon Frise" and he should look like this ... unique that they don't molt so no dog hair however they have to have a hair cut every six to eight weeks here he is with the groomer .. he is our fifth dog and named after the fifth highest mountain in the world "Makalu"

I'm always impressed with your Scotch Bonnet collection John! Looks like your plants are thriving, they look absolutely amazing. I see a lot of flowers, have any of yours set yet? How's the weather in England? Better than last year?
Alana I have a lot of nodes closest to set is the Matthew Arthur SB Peach ... this variety like last season produces so many early flowers hope by the end of the week to have a few set. Weather is unpredictable we are due for a stormy weekend as forecast but tonight we have had a lovely evening and I managed my first BBQ. Europe doesn't look good they have had terrible thunder and lightening storms with many struck .... why do people hide under a tree during lightening five hospitalised in Paris

My daughter has a Bichon, they call her "Momo" that's not her name, but that's what she's called.

She's a bit of a character, so when I stumbled upon this pic I couldn't resist and sent her an email titled "Momo?"

This would certainly be Momo, given the chance, LOL

Ok, back on task, sorry. Great picture perfect specimens! Magazine quality! ;)

It takes some real work to get the plants looking that special!

Ah, I'm sorry about the weather turning bad, we've had unexpectedly good weather here, so I just assumed yours would be twice as good, it normally is. I'm glad you're close to getting fruit though. Good on the BBQ, everything tastes better when it's been on a grill.
