Tridents - Fifth Season Bonnets/Hybrids 2018

Snowdrops out and the early signs of daffodils are abundant here in the U.K. ... we are reminded that winter is all but done however looking at next weeks temperatures I am not so sure. I am late this season I normally sow between Christmas and New Year but last season I was too advanced and the Growtents were bulging before I could get the plants into the polytunnel.... my propagation is crammed full of all sorts of chilli seeds germinating away after their tea soak ... big year for me as I retire in June but really looking forward to this season as I have managed to secure more true Bonnets and a few new Bonnet Hybrids. Mine's not that close, but also not so far off, and, you can surely bet I'm counting the days.  

Thanks Devv ... yes we will both retire together I could have gone two years ago but she was only six and would have been re-handled .. I have had her since a year old it's going to take her a while to adjust to not getting up at 05.15 all the time as she does now

Up-pots are looking stellar John! How much longer 'til they hit the dirt, or are you gonna keep them potted up in your pop-up cloche?

Great news that you'll be retiring soon! We won't be anytime soon unless I hit the lottery. We're 8 years into a 30-year mortgage on our energy efficient house. That's why my veggie garden is so important to us. ☺

Plants look massive compared to mine but then again you have bigger pots and mine are in 9cm and 1 litre pots, repotting in to 8 litres Rhizo pots soon for their final home I think, will be nice to see your progress, all look really healthy.

Been slacking lately so here is an update... weather is good we are having a warm bank holiday but the night time temperatures are just a tad low so it's in/out as the plants harden off. Manageable when young but now they are gaining growth it's the old adage "why did I choose so many varieties"

Salem is an unintentional cross "Obeah x (Butch T x NagaBon)" .... Obeah a form of West African sorcery used by slaves against their white masters ... keeping the sorcery/whitchcraft theme I went with Salem famous for its 1692 witch trials ...

Been a while so I can only apologise but all is well in southern England with temperatures this week hitting nearly 30c ... all plants 38 different varieties planted in their final pots with 18 in the polytunnel and the rest dotted about the garden

Personally for me the "Purple Ghost Scorpion" takes some beating a beautiful flower and showing some great shaped pods

Tallest plant in the polytunnel is "Chris Fat Red x Jigsaw" from Sandra Tipton via Rocco only two flowers have set so far

Time for an update... weather in England has been phenomenal as summer standards go the polytunnel is like a jungle with Chris Fat Red dominating closely followed by DM Chocolate Bhutlah

Yes!!!! I'm super-stoked that you didn't get crossed seeds!!! You are most welcome, my friend! I love this variety. Firm and crunchy with an amazing flavor! And it might be a little spicier than you're expecting. Kinda leanin' towards the Jonah in that area. Very, very nice, John!!!

Couldn't wait for any of them to ripen, sooooo.....here's an unripened Purple Ghost Scorpion...seeds from Mojo.

I wonder if that deep purple with change when they ripen.
