Tridents - Fifth Season Bonnets/Hybrids 2018

Snowdrops out and the early signs of daffodils are abundant here in the U.K. ... we are reminded that winter is all but done however looking at next weeks temperatures I am not so sure. I am late this season I normally sow between Christmas and New Year but last season I was too advanced and the Growtents were bulging before I could get the plants into the polytunnel.... my propagation is crammed full of all sorts of chilli seeds germinating away after their tea soak ... big year for me as I retire in June but really looking forward to this season as I have managed to secure more true Bonnets and a few new Bonnet Hybrids. A massive "thank you" to all that have helped me continue my Bonnet/Hybrids/Hot Chinense journey especially Simmy, Justin (WHP), Sandra Tipton (Foggia), D3, Bhuter, Chiliriot, Gentetikx, Jeanie Y, GIP, MikeUSMC

Tobago faria has impressive production. Must have had zero blossom drop. How do you get your plants to ripen their pods all at once? I understand that you put some work into the poly tunnel and maintaining their conditions. Isn't there more to it? Please, don't tell me it's just a good season.

Great photos. The color on freeport orange and the matte look of the sb cappucino. Wartyx sb is interesting. Maybe I mis-remember this, but i think MA is also responsible for borg 9, which has bubblegum parentage. Either way, I like its soft color too.
Thank you .... the photo doesn’t do the FreePort Orange justice it’s a really beautiful colour. SB Cappuccino was created by “Wayright” in 2012 recently the pods have been elongated but last season Sandra Tipton (Foggia) got some bonnet back into them I have grown that seed as indicated by the “T” on the plastic label. The Wartyx x SB? came from Justin White (WHP) most people know that I am a bonnet enthusiast so he sent me the seed to grow and this is how they turned out .... must have crossed with a Red BBG. I have grown many MA creations including Daisy Cutter, Crazy 7pot, Florida Predator and these I have grown this season not sure if Borg was one of his someone on the forum will know

This is an awesome glog. I love bonnet-y peppers so I'm not sure why I haven't been following this more closely. Awesome pods, especially on that sb7j.
Again thank you .... praise must go out to Adam (Bhuter) who sent me the seed he has absolutely nailed the shape all my pods were consistent in shape, colour and taste. If you would like some seed I am sure he wouldn’t mind me passing some on to a fellow bonnet enthusiast

Germinated plants stay in the grow tents until the weather allows them to go out usually May/June. They are brought up in “BioBizz All Mix” a hydroponic soil which contains some nutrients to give them a kick start. When I repot I again use BioBizz until they start to flower once then I only use “Potash” Magnesium Sulphate and that all. I will give a liberal amount each month around the top of the pot and well water in. This season we had a good spring and summer so I kept the poly tunnel opened to the elements as much as possible as Matthew Arthur would say “it was then all about the [emoji219][emoji219][emoji219][emoji219]” ....

That'd be awesome. I have a pretty limited selection for trade since this is only my second year growing, but if you see anything interesting feel free to ask!

Loved reading your glog, especially now that I'm evolving toward a scotch bonnet only season for 2019! :)

More than happy to assist in your season if you need seed just PM. I started five years ago trying to grow every known Scotch Bonnet and their hybrid and I am continually amazed .... I continue the journey but each season gets harder however my thanks go out to those on this forum that enjoy crossing bonnets ... ps still looking for the elusive “white bonnet”

White bonnet I don't have :)
I have a number of bonnet seeds on order and the more I read about it the more I want to add! :D Unfortunately my room for plants is kinda limited...
I'm still on the lookout for TFM and stuffing bonnets :)

What size of pots do you actually use for your plants?

I use 11ltr and 18ltr pots containing a hydroponic soil from Holland called “BioBizz All Mix” this contains enough nutrients until the flowering stage. I then only use Magnesium Sulphate - Pot Ash regularly throughout the rest of the growing season

Thanks. I was just wondering what size of pot is actually large enough to grow this kind of chilli plants. I have grown some of my plants in 30 liter pots (I believe). Probably larger than necessary. But those were baccatums...

I know this is a very basic question but your pots seemed so compact to me so I had to ask :)

A nice list and I imagine you are waiting for them to arrive from Justin (WHP) as he grew out the Allen Boatman variety I sent him. You have a good cross section but nearly all yellow ... the FreePort Orange will give you some colour but besides the Stuffing you need more reds. I suggest the SB7J give me a PM if you want some seed
