Trippa's 2023/2024

Back again and trying to get my first decent grow going in a few years.
Experimenting a little with an aeroponics setup for some of my starts.
Not certain how that will go but taking a punt.

Have a bunch of different varieties down from varying age seeds (some from 2011-12 right through to 2022 all stored in fridge since early 2015)

Most seem to be doing as they should and germinating. Some are being a little stubborn as expected.

Once germinated they are going under a 500-600 watt LED panel with extra natural light in the greenhouse on a heat mat.

Only thing I am lacking is a fan to get some more robust/less leggy seedlings which you can see in the seedling pictures.

Multiple strains of myself and PaulG's Trippaul threats plus PaulG's Purple thunder among many others.

I also have my three outdoor Pubescens which are in their 8th year happily overwintering with pods still. Biggest one of those is probably 8ft high. Needs a trim back currently.

Will try to sporadically update as I go along.

An update on the chilli children... Now mostly turning into teens .... With a change of potting soil from previous seasons and an entirely new ongrowing sequence using an aeroponics system and new nutrients I am currently pretty much in my best position chilli growing wise since moving home to New Zealand 8 years ago.
The nutrients really seem to be some of the best I have used (hydroponic nutes that can be used in soil as well) and the plants just love them.
They are about due to be potted on and placed outside now that (hopefully) our true summer has arrived for the next few months.
I only have a few pods set but I haven't expected them to considering the up and down weather and also getting them used to soil after the aeroponics step.
Some pictures of the plants in varying states of maturity attached.
I have a few new varieties that I never quite got started which will have wait until next season to see.
I will do a list of what I have growing one of these days until then this is it.

Some serious gnarl on those pods, Tristen!
Looks like your new grow routine is paying
off for you. The plants look really full and bushy,
good work, my friend!

Few more gratuitous pod shots ... (Some/most just updates on the previous ones)

Lots of nice color coming along, Tristen!
Yeah a few pods coming up to eating/heating point Paul!!
Also an update for you from one of your supplied seeds
These photos are from a plant (I believe) labeled Purple Thunder Mystery?? I will have to double check the original seed packs to be certain of the naming.
Totally different to the other Purple Thunder plants/pods.

That one is the result of sporadic cross between a
But Jolokia and a Tripppaul Threat. It has nice, smokey
Red pods, 5-6cm to 8cm in length. There are several
variations of these from yellow to red.
Super hot :mouthonfire: !

You have some gnarly looking bumpy pods in there. Some nice rocoto pods too!
Thanks .... Yeah there are some really nice pods coming... Not lots (due to this years experiment with smaller pots and more frequent nutrients , next season will see me go up pot sizes to double most of the current ones and try the same feeding regime which I think will be a really good sweet spot for production vs cost vs space)
But still plenty of heat and enough to save some good seeds and get some heat into some meals over the next few months

Awesome array of colors, Tristen! Some suitable gnarl as
well. The bleeding calyx peppers in the last pic look like
some diabolical forbidden fruit!

Is pic #14 a Trippaul Threat, or Purple Thunder?

Yeah the Bubblegum look amazing... Very small pods but nice point of difference!
The curled gnarly looking thing is a purple thunder pod Paul. As are the pods in picture #8. Can't wait to try.
