Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

I still have plants Paul, just not 80...LOL
Painting the house...I'd rather grow..

You still have a grow going on, for sure, buddy!
Your garden space looks great; a little jealous
of all your space, but not the work you put into
it.  Well done  , Scott!

The pineapple is awesome.
Blew me away when I saw it  !

Is the first pic the F6? And are those Scotch Bonnets
on the far right in the third pic? It looks like those are
7-gal fabric pots...

20180709_052048.jpgI pulled those pods they looked lighter colored outside.

Standard bic lighter for size reference

Wow, 21/2 inches/6.3 cm pods - those are A+ specimens
They are a long way from ripe , though.  Those will still go
from pale yellow/ivory to ivory or even white as they ripen;
in my experience, these ripen slowly.

I am interested in how the heat and taste are for those, though,
even at this stage. Give 'em a nibble and let us know :D !

Nice work, Andy

Cheers  , Fellas!

Hey Paul, it's been a while! As always, a beautiful grow...Thought I'd let you know that my PaulG Aji Amarillo overwinters, both the Peruvian and the F5, are doing splendidly and are going for a personal best this season! They've gone somewhat Bonzai, neither more than a foot tall, but the flower and pod production just kicked into gear--

Thanks, Eric.
It's a community effort, bud !  Dedicated to Tristen's PDNxBMJ.
The pics are from a variety of people on the thread.  If you want
some F7 seed to grow next year, let me know. It would be great
to have you in the group.

Those look awesome, Eric!  Good work overwintering those and
getting them into racing form for the summer.  Very robust and
healthy looking. Love the dwarf look. It will be interesting to see
what they look like in the Fall  :drooling:

Here's to an uneventful grow season, my friend!!

That one with the yellow pods is a Yellow Brainstrain, the two to the left are P.Dreadie's. The fabric containers are 15 gallons. The plastic pots are 7's, and I can hardly keep them watered with the 100's most everyday...I may put them in 15's this weekend..note to self!

I hear ya about the container size! When I first started with this obsession this year I thought there was no way 7 gal would even be necessary in any circumstances, boy I understand it now! I got some in 3s,5s,and 7s gal fabric pots and the pot size is directly correlated to plant size but even worse I got giant size ones in smaller pots that grew that way due to excellent care and awesome media and nutes and its a struggle to keep them hydrated to where the fruit doesn't end up wrecked....

Silly question:what is a P. Dreadie

We're gettin' there!
Jealousy!! Here's mine they still getting their legs in the ground as I got them in the mail and had to put them on life support as they were roughhhhh! Very small when I got them with maybe 3 or 4 roots but now they're toughened up quite a bit. No Idea on pheno as I got them from Sawyer and he had no idea as well as he got the seeds from Devv..

Those have really come around, Tristan!  Very healthy
looking with robust stalks.  Should do great for you.
I hope you have enough grow season left.

- Sounds like a great plan, Tristan! Good luck with that.

- P. Dreadie is a kind of Scotch Bonnett.
There is a thread dedicated to it on the forum; it is
on page one of the Grow Logs at the moment.

Now if I can only find it! What do you guys use to search and use the forum on your phones? Tapatalk or the www.webpage for the forum? Tapatalk sucks for me but maybe I don't have it setup right?

It is about one-third of the way down page one.
I just use the web site for searching THP.

Pulled the two yellow pods from the F4-3 plant.
The seeds look to be fully developed, or almost,
so the pods were ripe. Lots of placenta but not
oily inside:

I ate a quarter of the pointed pod. The flavor was almost
mild, but not quite fruity. Definitely not bitter or nasty.
Very nice crunch on the fresh pod. Heat was very tolerable
and immediate, full mouth burn spread rapidly, lasted about
eight minutes. About the same experience as the first
pod I tried, but better flavor, which I really like, especially
for a hot pepper.

The P.Dreadie is a Scotch Bonnet. What I like about this variety is it is a bit less hot and has more flavor (in my experiences) than the MoA or the plain Scotch Bonnet.

It certainly has a nice flavor, without the kill-ya heat. And I've shared a few pods. Everyone comments about what a nice pepper it is, flavor wise ;)
