Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

Who's Liz?

I thought mine were F6 but whatever.  They've grown a bit since I took the pic.
Sorry, Mitzi, senior moment.  Please accept my apology.
Your seeds are from the F6 plant, if I understand Heefy
correctly, so they will produce the F7 generation.

The F7 are growing fast. Seem to be very healthy.
These are in #3 (about 10 inch) nursery pots.

A group shot so you can see
them relative to each other. The
Tallest, F71, is 101/2 inches tall
at highest node:

Here's a few, I didnt look at the list to see if they were F5 or F7
I need to see if the bulbous ones are going purple, they seemed pretty green when I stuck them in the soil. So some of these pictured could be the bulbous too

Nice looking seedlings, Andy. Lots of purple there!

I hope the bulbous pod seed produce something
interesting for you!.

In those two rows the top one is all bulbous, the bottom row has two f7 on the left and 4 f5 on the right
Great germination success, Andy.
Lots of choices going forward!

I think Paul is just sensing my lurking habits on this thread

I've lost some of the middle of the thread through the year, but it has taught my newbie self a bit about growing out a cross. Both the white and violet look pretty awesome.

Maybe I need to look into getting some seeds from someone.

I will be happy to send you some of this season's
seeds, Mitzi. And for sure will send you some of
the 2019 seeds next Fall. I have sent them to all
the folk growing it out last season, and will do so
again, to those who want them. I know some folk
want to continue with their own strains.

Are you doing this name thing deliberately now?  She's Liz, I'm Mitzi.  You meant Liz in this post.

Although it's understandable that people who have got something different but interesting would want to continue it, surely the whole point of this community grow of a new cross is that eventually the cross gets stabilised to one standard phenotype (selected from all the variations that show up in the earlier generations) and that becomes the PDN x BMJ and maybe given a new name.  In fact it should definitely be given a new name.  Look at how many people are growing Pink Tiger now; it's a similar PDN cross but it's got a catchy name and here in the UK it seems as if everyone grew it last year or this year.

I didn't know about this whole project when I begged Heefy for seeds; I just saw that he was growing something that looked awesome and I wanted some of that.

Good point!

Tristen's cross has been pretty stable since the
F3 generation, so I'm confident we are just about
there as far as a predictable, stable cross goes.
Looking over my past 5 grow logs, I am amazed
at how consistent it has been. The past two seasons
have seen 10 and 20+ people respectively, growing it
out, and the consistency seems to be there across
everybody's plants.

Tristen should be the one to name it since it's his cross.

Anyway, I'm glad you are joining in, Mitzi! Good luck
getting some nice pods from them!

Two of my plants are turning greener but one is still very dark. I'm giving one of them away soon but I'll keep the dark one.
Those look great, Mitzi! Very healthy looking
little guys. Don't worry about the color.  Some
bright summer sun will darken it up.

Good luck going forward, friend!
