True Piment D'Espelette seeds available

if you find "gorria"    it's the same pepper.

have some of those coming from espelette region in france and grew then in canada.   they are bigger and better each year (i reuse my seeds) to have some plants that are more and more tuned to my northern climatic condition :)

very good pepper!  hope it wont go too appreciated cause they will all lose the high value for teh espelette farmers.

and be carefull the "espellette" is a protected denomination.   so you can use "type espelette" or gorria without too much fear of lawsuits

Gorria is indeed the actual variety name but I think most people don't know it by that name. :)

Good to hear! :)
I'm growing a couple of plants again this year, although the espelettes I grew last year were by far not as good as the ones I bought in France. But that probably has everything to do with the climate I live in...

I am sure you mean protected variety as denomination means the face value of currency or a branch of the christian faith.
It is my understanding the espellette variety is protected from commercial propagation but is authorized for hobby growers to do so. You may want to check with Mark V on this as he seems to have versed himself with such details before the offering of the variety.

Espelette did very well for me (better than my Kaffir Lime is doing). Thanks Marc!

Plants were very productive. I dried and powdered some.
TOM:  Looking at Kaffir Limes this week!  haha. The Los Angeles Times food editor wrote an article on Kaffir Limes that has me wanting one on the patio!  I especially liked the intro to Yotam Ottolenghi.  enjoy!

Hi Marc!  Greetings,  Hope all is well in Belgium with you!

My Espelette was overwintered and frankly didn't take kindly to pruning and transplant!  That is on me.  haha.  We will we if it bounces back. I love the pepper!  Unearthed the nearby Fresno pepper in order to pay deferance to the Piment d' Espelette.  Will grow every year. Great flavor off the plant!

That is great to hear! And yes, I'm fine! ;)

No need to overwinter the espelette... they produce plenty of seeds! :)

And about that kaffir lime... here's some more info about it: http://citruspages.free.fr/papedas.html#kaffir
and http://www.citrusvariety.ucr.edu/citrus/hystrix_2454.html
In fact they're not actual limes but papedas, a not so well known group of citrus.
