U)<now's 2016/2017 Indoor/Outdoor Glog

Hey guys,

I figured I'd start a late season Glog for my indoor (possibly outdoor for a couple months) grow since I didn't start anything this past spring. I posted some stuff in the Growing sub a couple weeks ago when I ordered all my seeds for my 2017 grow, but I wanted to start a few now to overwinter for a winter project as well as a head start for 2017. Currently I have a setup for 5 4ft T8 twin tube fixtures (10 bulbs) with 6500K bulbs right now as I don't normally overwinter plants so I haven't needed anything stronger yet... I only keep 4 fixtures on it for seedlings. I may upgrade to a Quantum Badboy 8 bulb T5HO, or a DIY COB LED setup, not decided yet, I need to do more research on the LED. I have followed a few DIY builds on here and people here seem to have good luck with their DIY COB LED setups and I have seen people growing to pods with both indoors. I don't want to deal with the cost or heat of MH or HPS. I guess the good thing about LED is they don't normally degrade or have to be replaced seasonally like T8 or T5 bulbs.

I only have room to start about 300 plants in the spring, The most I have started in years past was 288, so my list wont get much bigger for 2017, but here is my 2017 grow list so far. I normally start about 10 or so of each plant and give some away to my family members with gardens, Keeping only 2 or 3 of each variety for myself. I have all these seeds in hand right now, with the exception of a couple.

Nice work, and BOY, do I hear you on the deer. They topped all my Aji Amarillos and Mama's bell plants, decimated just about everything else but tomatoes.

I'm sure the U.P. is filthier with the cloven-hoofed rats than where I am, kep de battle de blood clot, mon!!
Yeah, they eat everything! Even the landscaping bushes and plants!

Lesson learned though.

I'll probably always have some in pots just for backup/more control over them if the weather is too wet or too dry for long periods and just keep them in the garden like I am now.

Always learning new things every day!

Sorry about the deer hitting your plants.

Congrats on the move and getting the garden up and running. Your plants will do fine ;)

I'm jelly about all that rain you're getting!
Thank you sir! It's pretty exciting to see pods forming finally after all the up's and down's this season!

Hey all,

I finally have some decent pod pics to share. Only a few though as it started to rain while I was getting pics. I was out trying the gorilla wood glue method to glue flowers shut just before they are about to open in an attempt to get true seeds for next season.

Here they are!

Few more pics, plants are exploding with new growth finally. Aphids have arrived also, bastards. Gonna have to spray tomorrow, good thing I caught them early.

Awesome pics,Troy.

Glad all is well.

Sorry I've missed your updates. Been trying to keep up with everyone. Been super busy.

I love the stance and pods of the Fildaga Preto. Never heard of it. Whereabouts does it come from? Some many, I haven't heard of these days.
No worries! Thanks for stopping by. Things have been super busy for me also, barely have time for the plants this summer with the new house and all the projects we have.

Here is the info listed on THSC for the Fildaga Preto... Ripens to red.

Thanks for the information. Looks like a winner. Description is spot on of your plant.

I order something from them every couple years. They seem to have a good selection and lots of new varieties. I'll check them out and see what Neil's up to.

I used the wood glue method on a few flowers from each plant for pure pollination. Having good luck so far. P.M. me and I'll send you some seeds this fall!

Edit: The pods were more dark purple, almost black. They're turning green now as you can see in the pic so I'm assuming they go from purple to green to red.

Just did some aphid hunting after work. Looks like just one potted orange fatali and one Moruga in the ground had some. But I'm sure there are others. I have some time off work this week so ill go through each plant thoroughly and spray them with the soap and water mix.

My plants are just starting to take off, I dont want that momentum to get ruined by damn aphids.

Few garden pics...

So I sprayed them with the dawn dish soap (green apple was all I had) and water mix yesterday to help with the aphids. Today I noticed most of my plants dropped a crap load of their leaves. Did I use too much soap or was it the green apple maybe?

Ive sprayed in the past with this and never had an issue. The leaves dropped were all healthy leaves.

Well, they stopped dropping leaves, but did also drop most of the flowers they had and my Aji Pineapple dropped 4 pods also. That plant took it the harshest. My back up plants I sprayed with the same mixture are all fine, no leaf drop, but they are shaded most of the day, so I think it was mainly due to spraying my main plants in full sun and not rinsing them off after. But, the aphids are gone for now, lol. At this point in my season, it is what it is. I'll be lucky to get a few ripe pods off each, which is my main goal anyways... Ease the hit to the wallet for seeds next season.

Glad you like the Aji Pineaple ;)

In the future, if you spray in the early hours. Like at sun up, the plants won't have as much problems. I use Fertilome triple action with 70% Neem oil. It works really well and can be used weekly, if the bastages persist. So far no plants are hating it ;)
