food-bev Vortex Portable Mixer for yeast starters

Is anyone familiar with this product? Do you think it would work well at making yeast starters?

They're on woot.com today, 2 for $20 shipped. Worth a shot??

i've had one of those. that's more of a chocolate milk mixer. it makes a kind of tornado in the cup and a lot of foam. i'm not so sure this would make a good option for a starter device.

can't you just get a flask and build one of those stirplates from radio shack parts?

I ordered them to leave one at work for post-workout protein shakes, figured it would be cool if i could use the spare for something cool like making beer. I'll probably put together a stirplate eventually. Just shaking it up every once in while seems to have worked well enough for the time being.
