Another great one grown by Omar Soto in Texas. It was believed to be a C.chinense, but a USPS mishap caused the pods to get a little dehydrated before I got them.
The initial aromas were a little chinense-like, but more fruity with some sweet notes as well. The pod was also a slightly off-shape for a C.chinense.
The flavor was superb, flat out delicious. It was fruity, a little sweet and very rich. To me it had a nutty essence, similar to marzipan and a lovely almost juicy fruit gum flavour. The flesh was very soft, like a C.frutescens and the skins a little tough, again like a frutescens.
The heat was a little prickly, more like black pepper-style heat and overall the heat was very good. I`d say not far short of half an Orange Habanero.
