Calling the police is definitely the socially proper thing to do. Not raggin on you when I say it just isnt my thing to do. Would rather resolve conflicts with out them because involving the legal system is a pain in the rear.

Hard to really explain without long boring stories. Short is that every experience I have had with the courts has been mind numbingly stupid or even painful. Did you know rape victims are often advised by advocates that they might not want to report de to the abuse they can expect from the courts? Just plain wrong.

That's absolutely horrible...

I get ya. I would rather resolve it without the cops if I had a choice.

Did you end up talking to them?

Nope.  Would have walked to the fence line at the time, but cant really walk.  Just going outside the house pulled open the incision on my foot.  It is in a really bad place for walking.  Even if it were fine, wife would kill me for the walk.  Surgeon was really emphatic that I not put weight on it for X amount of time.  I have like a week or so left.

Understandable. Hope you get better soon.

Wife is going to let me walk to the lawn mower next week.  All is good.  There is something about wounds from surgery that makes them heal really fast.  Maybe because all the cuts are clean?  I am more worried about being all wobbly when I walk.  I feel like I need one of those long poles that the tight rope walkers use.

Country folks always talk smack about city folks. Just like city folks always talk smack about country folks. That's what I've gathered in my observations anyway.

It comes down to doing things their own way.  I grew up with family that are as country as it gets.  But I've lived in and around some of the most populated land in Texas.  I live in the city, work a desk job and live the life of what most would call "City folk".  But in my spare time, I hunt, I fish, I noodle catfish, I grow vegetables, I camp and do a lot of what city folk avoid.  I like living on both sides and hear the same thing from both sides.

Don't matter city, country, or something in between. Even very intelligent people can act like idiots under the right (wrong?) conditions.
A few years back I live in a pretty secluded spot where the nearest homes were in a subdivision about 1/4 mile away. We backed up to the same forest where I could set snares and harvest various animals and vegetation.
Some damn fool decided to do some target practice into the forest with some kinda hi-powered holy shit and he was either a terrible shot or his targets were very thin because I could hear the bullets flying through the trees and ricochet a few times.
I hit a stump in my yard with a 12 gauge slug and heard someone down below yell about something, too far away to hear real words but my imagination went there and so I fired a 2nd slug into the tree. Their shooting stopped.

Now I felt they were the idiots for not being careful with a high powered, long range weapon but hindsight being 20/20, me answering back with a short range one was a pretty idiotic move in itself.

Nobody called  I just figured they would, which would have been funny because there is nothing illegal about shooting into my own ground, but it is illegal for someone elses dogs to enter my property, to hunt within 300 yards of a home, to fire over my property, to fire over  street, to hunt without orange, and so on.

What happened to those idiots?  They left very fast.  Now keep in mind, while they were shooting my daughter and wife were screaming at them and running their dogs off our land.  That did not cause them to stop or even stop firing over my daughters head.  Oh but now someone else has a gun, well that is scary.

They really need to learn the culture down here.  You just dont do stuff like this.  People take it seriously.
As a certified city folk person (though maybe not 100% typical as I own guns) I'll say this: shooting onto someone's property is so obviously messed up and potentially dangerous. Also, "city folks" don't hunt, period. What I guess you saw were some suburban kids who are wannabe hunters.
