I am starting to get some peppers setting. I've had a bit of flower drop recently but I haven't got too stressed about it. I figure it's gonna happen. Today though there was quite a few piles along side of some of my plants. The heat index is like 104 today. It is extremely hot and humid today. Yuck.

Big fat bhut.

Here are more bhuts on the same plant as the last pic. This one is setting nicely.

These next two pics I have marked as bhuts but all the pod shapes are different and they all have a little tail. They are from the same pack of seeds as the other bhuts unless I marked it wrong but it also doesn't look like the T.S. I am growing either.

Here are some Red T.S. These plants I thought were not going to do much about a month ago because they were having some issues but boy have they really taken off recently. I'm impressed with how well they came around.

Another shot of a couple scorpions on the same plant.

Jalapenos.

How long after the pods reach maturity does it usually take for them to ripen now?

Lookin good
I was wondering how long till mature jalapeno pods.
I have a loan ranger in 2gal grow bag that has one almost 2 inch pod

Did you have mite attack on those bhuts? Kind of looks like some mite damage with some of the rolled leaves, hard to tell from the pictures though.

Those Scorpions look great. So far I don't have any scorpion pods with anywhere near that nice of shape. I don't even think I've had one with a tail yet. :mope:

I don't know. I posted a while back about them but never did figure out what was up. This week I just noticed on a few plants that the new growth was all shriveled up and thought it looked like mite damage. I just picked those leaves off today on some. Maybe I should use some insecticide eh?

The flowers that dropped are yellow... that means deficiency. fert up my friend.

Really? I have been using Botanicare Pro Grow, Liquid Karma, and CalMag every 10 days. I have only been using 1 teaspoon of each since I am using all three. I haven't wanted to overdo it on the ferts as I see so many people doing this. I do think for the vegetative stage it calls for more of the Pro Grow than I am currently using however.

We are in a comfortable season, so no harsh weather. you are definitely not over-fertilizing them... so what's left is a deficiency. flowering and giving fruit takes more nutrients. especially nitrogen and other trace-elements.

Nitrogen for fruiting? I thought that was a no-no. My understanding is phosphorus and potassium for flowering/fruiting stage, nitrogen is for vegetative growth and prolongs fruiting.

And, i'm NEVER wrong, unless I am lol.

Nitrogen is an important nutrient for any growth. the requirement differs depending on the stage of growth. you need more nitrogen for flowering and fruiting than to vegetative growth. if your vegetative growth measurements are too much for flowering or fruiting and causes burns or flower drops, you're over-fertilizing.

do not always think there is only one "right" way

i used this on my pubes and they flower and set like mad:
http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202052023/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

it is like
12-10-5
and i went heavier than recommended (i used ±3.0 pounds in 40 square feet)
i found the price to my liking and have got lots of pubes swelling from it now

try it out and see it cost like five bucks and a few teaspoons or so top dressed in that fiver may just do the trick
but...

Agreed, some N is always needed and ferts should always be somewhat balanced. I stand by my opinion (based on everything i've seen) that P and K should be in higher proportion in the late stages of the season for flowering and fruiting. I am using roughly 1-3-2 now on my bigger plants, but in moderation, we'll see how they do.

Too much ferts or not enough your plants look great!
Agreed, they look great to me.
