Yes, the state CAN say I cant hava gun. Proly a good idea as long as I live ina city.
Country living, we never thought of shootin each other 'less you get stoopid adn hop our fence. Then, we had posted....trespassers wil be shot on sight. We meant it.

Mom and I were seting ot on the porch..when a bullet whamed the house not 8" from my head. It took dad and I about 90 sec to be fully armed and lookign to shoot back.
I coulda killed a man that day whod' shot 'accidentaly' at my mom and I first, but I didn't because da said nto to. Like any hunt, I found 'em, an said I had 'em...dad said track only..so I did. Was damn hard to jus watch hi run off when I coudla blown his head over abotu 4' sq of area.
Part of me wishes I had though.
And that, is why i don't own a gun, I'd use it.
As the son of a coroner, I don't have the least bit of prob. with shooting anyone dead. I'd smile and put it in yer eye socket. And a dbl-tap in the temple just to be sure.
But, I'm not that way....cus I can't. I just don't like society..if I was just up in AK/BC alone in the bush or something..thats diff., cus i do respect weapons and their use...to a point.

We only had 7 acres, al the neighbors had lots..so we had to mind our P/Q's.

To this day I wish i'd gotten into the mil tho.. I'd be a stone cold killer.

Nah, you didn't miss much by not going into the military. All that romantic stuff of being a "stone cold killer" is BS. They don't tell you all of the other crap you have to put up with.
Nope, can't say I've ever put a human being in the cross hairs with evil intent. I will tell you a couple of things I have done.
Spent almost two years away from my family so I could keep communism and terrorism away from my country.
Went weeks without showering because, well because there aren't any showers in the desert.
Slept in tents, portable trailers, dirt, sand, cots, trucks, hummers, more nights than I want to remember. Helmets make lousy pillows.
Been woken up in the middle of the night by sirens, scrambling for a gas mask and MOPP gear in the dark. That freaking sucks let me tell ya. Can be quite humorous at times too though.
Had to crawl under my vehicle before I got into it every single time to look for things that go boom. You have no idea what the rush is like when you forget and are just about to turn the key.
I've listened to bullets fly over my head. Not just the ones that make the quick high pitched hissing sounds but the ones that are tumbling too. They make a whoop whoop whoop sound. Very distinct.
Been frozen, baked, boiled, soaked, cooked, and just plain miserable more times than I want to remember.
Didn't quite make it to my 20 years though. Ended up with a medical retirement just short of 18 years. For some reason the ol' body decided to wear out in a few places.
For all of this and so much more I get a steady income, a very cool license plate to put on my Tahoe, and the best parking in the lot.

No three day waiting period here in Nebraska either. There is a catch though. In order to buy handguns you have to get a buyers permit from the local police. Cost you $5 and takes about a week. It's then good for two or three years.
Personally I don't see a problem with that. Everyone who wants to own weapons should have a relatively clean background and not be some crazed lunatic. Part time craziness is allowed though as long as nobodies mom gets hurt.
