Very hot. ...from what I have heard. I am growing them for the first time (they look just like yours), but one site says they are 9 but feel like 11!

I've never really had a problem with germinating of any species but I've never grown the wild ones. C. pubescens have always been difficult for me to grow while C. chinenses seem for me to be the easiest.

Fancy trying to grow some c. Parvifolium ;)

Maybe some day I'll be interested in the wild species' but right now I want to concentrate on productive and flavorful varieties for next season. Must fight off temptation to grow everything;)

Pubes are the hardest to grow for me. No luck at all. Hell, I don't think I could have killed any of the others if I had tried, but the pubes just wouldn't do anything. Not even going to bother next year.

Maybe you're just not mature enough yet to grow pubes.....

(sorry, i HAD to)

for me it has been the Pubescens...I don't think I have a single pubescens that made it throught the 30 day stretch of 100F+ temps...

What chilliac said was right A.J its hardening them of..But 100+ is damn hard for any plant..Spoke to mike in houston and he had the same problems at first but after a few weeks of shade in mid-summer he introduces plants slowly to more sun and eventually they could stand a day or so of extreme temps but after a few days wilted a little

I will have shade next year...the wife is letting me "re-arrange the back yard...
