What were you doing

What were you doing ten years ago today?

I had just woke up to go get my paycheck and turned on the tv to kill some time... I never got up... i was glued to the tv all day long praying for the families of the people that I knew weren't coming home...

Yeah a sobering day in the minds of many.

I was at work, doing some work in the Palace Casino at West Edmonton Mall, when the first plane hit.

Didn't think too much of it...maybe someone accidentally drove a Cessna or something into a tower.

But when it was announced that a second plane had hit, i came down off of my ladder and all of us stood around watching the tv screen which were all now tuned into CNN.

Not much work got done that morning as everyone stood around in disbelief, wondering what the hell was going down.

The strange thing was, i had just been in Manhattan less than three weeks earlier and caught a plane back to Edmonton on August 23, from New Jersey, one of the airports where one of the planes was alledgedly hijacked from...

At work, couldn`t believe it at first... thought it was an accident until the second one.

Then it all got eerily quiet. No trains moving in or out, traffic seemed to stop and no planes overhead.

That was when it really, really hit what was going on.

I'll never forget. Sitting at my Mac mixing a tune and enjoying myself. Had the TV on without sound and when I glanced over I saw an airliner smack into the first tower. I knew at once it wasn't an accident. Off went the music and up with the volume on the TV. When the 2nd plane crashed into the other tower for me it was nothing but weeping , wailing , and gnashing of teeth. Pure wickedness live on my tube.

Peace

I don't remember the entire day, but I remember hearing about a bombing in the US, so switched the channel to CNN and saw the second plane crashing live.

10 years ago I was having my first bite of my birthday cake, I turned 33 years old that day. From that day on my birthday was never the same. Nowaday's I guess I don't realy care for my birthday anymore. Is it because I'm getting older and it not as much special or is it because this live changing avent.

While I was watching the TV the second plane crashed into the other tower and I feld like it was unreal.

All I can say is Strenght to all that have lost someone in that catastrophy.

Getting ready for some damn art class at the college. Needless to say, didn't make it. Went up to the bar I managed, turned the tv on and sat there all day watching, talking, and eating/drinking the shock away. :tear:

Did meet a good friend that day, it helped to share with someone and process the whole thing.

It was a very odd morning. For some reason, I was actually at my office in the first sawmill I worked for in Sullivan County PA. If I hadn't been at the office, I wouldn't have known about it until returning later in the evening. Everyone at the mill was glued to the television for the first couple of hours then I was sent out in the field to get my mind off things (yeah right). I sat in my company truck and listened to things unfold right until the second tower collapsed. There was no way I could get any work done with that going on, so I returned to the office and went home for the day. I will never forget that day.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Tree work. Catching snippets on the radio during breaks. Remembering getting more and more angry. Couldn't focus. Almost fell twice that day.

It started out as any other normal day. I got into the unit orderly room and went to my office to get things ready for the day. Went out to PT (physical training) we had a really great run that morning. Everyone was sounding off and keeping up. After I went to the gym and showered and changed into uniform. I was active duty Army then. When I got back to my office I turned on the radio ate breakfast while the rest of the unit went out to formation. The announcement over the radio about the first plane came on as the First Sergeant and the Commander were walking past my door. I called them in so they could hear it and we went instantly into alert status. 10 minutes later the order came down alerting the Division. The rest of the day was spent going through the motion of preparations for deployment. Weapons and vehicles were being cleaned and checked, personal gear inventoried and inspected. We were there till about 10:00 PM when the call to release for the evening came down. The alert didn’t end for another 48 hours though.
God bless America and all her sons and daughters that stand in harms way!
