When to place under light question

I've noticed that when my seeds pop up that they seem to be bent and the "head" is not out of the ground yet. My question is, do you put them under the lights as soons as you see them or do you let them stand up first?

Light 'em if you see 'em - it won't hurt 'em.

Just actually put some hooks under lights today. I've got a couple Jamaican Red's and Jamaican Yellow's as well as a Yellow Scorpion.

I put mine under lights before I see them, normally 3 or 4 days after planting the seeds, I like to give them the warmth and guidance to where to look for the bright light :)

I use the light in my germinator for heat so they are under light as soon as the seeds are planted...they don't need light until they break the soil...then as has been said many times before, pour the light to them...if you are using 40 fluoros, put them almost touching the plants...JMO

Next year I am going to have it set up so that I can germinate and use the light in the same area. I didint think it through this year (my first year starting seeds inside). I guess the first year you do a LOT of learning about peppers and what it takes. I've already moved my flouro set up today as I didnt like where it was. Next season I will be using a completely different light set up. I'm having fun though, I've got pepper plants under lights. I've got a bag of Bhut Jolokia power that a member has sent me. I am going to try it with my nepews this coming weekend.

Lights can be a good source of heat but ideally you want bottom heat in my opinion. Top heat can dry out the surface soil while the bottom is still cooler and damper. Bottom heat will heat everything quite evenly as it rises

This is my first year planting peppers from seed with any success, mainly due to the excellent members here. I use a heating mat and a light, as soon as they decide to rise from the dead, they are in the light.
