Wild in Las Vegas 2014 (Hardening off and flowers!!)

So now it's time to make another attempt and hope for a better year.

I didn't want to make a glog this year... but I see many already started. That motivates me to make a glog.

2013 was a year for learning and making mistakes and mostly experiments. Needless to say I found and learned a lot and I know this year is gonna rock!

So let's get started with some pics, and I'll update with th list later today and I'll be visiting glogs in a short while ;) and here's to 2014!!!

Really beautiful wilds, Walt!

Charles sent me a photo of your Tepin x Barrackpore plant. Yours is really something—all those flowers…

I thought it would be good for us to compare notes. Mine are obviously several weeks younger than yours, but I believe the leaves are much the same:

Nice plants Gary!! I notice there's quite a variation in the leaf shape. I have one that has a few pods already, and the leaves look different than this one.

And here's how the pods are turning out on the oldest one. (Tepin x 7 pot Barrackpore F2)

Now, I started gathering ideas to make an irrigation system for the summer. Here's a couple of pics.

Most of my peppers are doing fine, all is good, except the damn wind... Here's a few pics.

Aribibi gusano.

Cumari verdaidera.

Galapagoense.

Need a bump :onfire: :onfire:

Thanks!!

Tabasco, I bought it at Plant World. I never had seeds and was always tempted to buy one. Lol.

Pink tiger, not much black foliage...

Texas black.

Cumari pollux, flowering and one flower looks like it's good to go ;)

CGN 24360.

My Chuncho for the growdown throwdown :D. Y'all better watch out!!

Lmao!! One more bump?? :D :onfire: :onfire:

Damn! You got a crazy wild grow going!
Love the selection!
Thanks Jason!! This is the last part Lol.

I'm waiting on a few supplies from the mail. I ordered an EC meter for my hydro stuff since I love the results and will keep on doing it. Specially now that I got the Lanceolatum growing nice and steady.

The greenhouse megastore, is out of stock on the root pouches I want Fml... I'll have to get different ones or grab the next ones up. A few more bucks, no biggie.

Oh and the Lanceolatum is finally coming thru for me. I'm impressed on the quality seed from Semillas La Palma. I've had 100% germ rates and ZERO helmet heads!! I only killed the last ones or they went suicide on me... But here's the second try and I have 2!! :onfire:

Lanceolatum #1.

Lanceolatum #2.

Cooking up something for the ladies just because they're so spoiled. Lol!!

And last but not least is this most unique and most likely rare wild Baccatum. I had it for quite some time in a wet coffee filter and I was shocked when I saw this.

Here's what the flowers look like. Almost round with Baccatum markings. Pics from Matt Pettersson.

That's it y'all!! Thanks for stopping by!

I've only got a couple of wilds in my grow this year, will be following yours to see how some of these do.

Judy threw in quite a few wilds on my order but I only had room for so many plants! Holding some seeds for next year.

At least I *think* these are all wilds; they were in a bag she labeled "free". I picked a couple at random to grow this year, the others I'll start next winter for 2015.

I haven't done a lot of research on them to really know much about what I have...

That's a pretty nice list! Judy rocks!! Most of mine are from her. I'll start labeling them more so you can see which ones are from her.

CAP 215 is a nice one. Similar to CAP 214 which is from Semillas La Palma. I hear they're hard to germinate, I had mine for a good time on a moist coffee filter inside a Tupper. Can't remember how much time I believe close to 2 months.

CGN 19198, is very nice too. I have one that has campanulate flowers. Same seeds from Judy. Take a look a couple or a few pages back. Very nice aroma when you rub the leaves too.

CGN 22792!! Aji chuncho! That's the pepper being grown for the growdown throwdown here.

All the others are good too. ;)

Judy is very cool, and she has this gift to know what everyone likes.

Unfortunately CGN 22792 wasn't one that I'd randomly selected to grow this year. :(

The freebies she sent that I *did* sprout:

Chili de Abrol
True Cumari
Datil
Dedo De Moca
Giant Mexican Rocoto (HUUUGE already)
Goats Weed
Mako Akokosrade
Pimenta De Neyde (COOL looking plant!!!)
Trinidad PI 281317
PI 281429

And two that I couldn't get to sprout:
Tobago Seasoning
Chocolate Habanero

Those are very cool varieties. There's always time to sow them if you can keep them alive indoors til it's time to put them outside. If they don't produce this year you can overwinter and have a big head start next season ;).

Walt, Im going to start calling you by Mr. Wilds! Great looking plants buddy..

Lol Portuge!! Just when people are going to say "Mr. Wilds from Vegas " that leaves a lil bit more to think about Lmao.

Mild update.

Here's something that has me very excited, after multiple attempts at germinating CGN 21502 I had ONE last seed and I just said "why not?" so I did the paper towel method and it came out close to 2 months! The only and last seed! We have hope!

CGN 21502

The Lanceolatum is also branching out I dialed in the EC in my nutrient mix I use for the Aerogarden and it's paying off. I opted to get the Bluelab truncheon :D.

Another thing to be excited about. CAP 214, a nice Baccatum var Baccatum. Similar or could be the same as CAP 215? Is CAP 215 still considered C. Microcarpum?

This one is on roids (hybrid vigor) literally putting out one set of leaves a day! Believe it or not!

CAP 501 x Donne sali F1.

CGN 19198, getting new shoes this week.

CAP 1491, I just like the way it looks! Very stunning plant.

PI 593491, Tepins are one of my favorites, but when I see this plant it just makes me want to collect them all!

Bump police where you at? :D.

-Walt

Bump Walter!

Thanks Jay!

It's been a while since I ever did group shots so...

Eximium group, definitely see some differences close up, now just waiting to see more of their flowers.

Chacoenses.

Left to right.

CAP 501 x Donne sali F1.
Covincho

Praetermissum gang ;), another 2 are not in the picture Lol.

Left to right.

CAP 1141
CGN 22795
Cumari verdadiera
Cumari pollux

Galapagoense, the one on the left is about 5 months and the one on the right is 2 months old.

Tepin x 7 pot Barrackpore F2. Finally a proper pic.

That's it y'all! :fireball: :fireball:

Nice job Walt!

I really like that Tepin x 7 pot Barrackpore F2, such a beautiful plant!

Thanks Scott!! It's setting more pods now, hope it makes more before the heat. I sent Nigel a plant and he will be doing a review as soon as some of them ripen and of course there's gonna be some more to spread the heat ;).

Good progress so far Walter.  I have enjoyed looking through your post tonight.

Thanks Alice!! You're a very PRO grower I always enjoy looking at your plants. Wish you the best as always and hope to see you grow more wilds :D.

***********************************

Time for an update... Sorry for the suspense, Lol...

Not much stuff going on so I'm gonna post a few pics of the current status.

I'll start off with the Lanceolatum, I'm totally enjoying this one! I have no idea why it's a Capsicum and it doesn't look like one. Right now they're really taking off and branching out nicely.

#1

My hand so you get the idea on the size :D.

Same #1.

#2

CAP 501 x Donne sali F1, with buds now!! Now to wait for flowers to open, it has those sexy calyx teeth of CAP 501. I love this cross!

#2 (Number goes by which germinated first)

#1 ( It's a shame Lol, no buds and it's sloooooowww... Where's that hybrid vigor??)

CAP 214 - Baccatum var Baccatum.
#1

#2

CGN 21502 - C. Eximium. One of my spoiled Eximium, the only one that germinated from the last seed I had.
