Not bad for this time of year, eh?

Cheers,

QS

Great pic QS...is that a tequila sunrise?

Been same old story here - anytime day temps hit 30C - a storm comes in that evening and cuts power to another 10,000 houses.

nice pics guys...

Quad, do you get many of those sunsets out there?

Bent...that looks like a pretty bad storm coming in...wall cloud and all...your place looks so green and lush and now mine is brown and dead looking...

we,ve been very lucky so far. Storms seem to split & go either side of my suburb. Do get a lot of water run-off though & lost a few tomato branches in wind, but no hail so far.

some pics of other parts of Brisbane.

you'll like #6 AJ

sounds like where I live Bent...storms coming in from the west usually split and go around here too...I live about a Km from the highest point in the county I live in...

That number 6 is an "electric" photograph...it is an awesome shot...

Yeah...may have been a piece of aviation history ;)

I'd say we have a few of those sunsets, but it isn't that common at this time of year, angle of the sun being what it is an all.

Just happened to hit on a a nice one I guess. :)

Oh, and it'll be down to near zero F. this weekend...high's in the 'teens.

Brrrr.

Where I am used to be a swamp/ paperbark grove. A suburb was built over it - a "hundred year flood" came through and took the middle of the suburb away. I have the first house built in these parts (1880) - it was flooded in 1974 but since been raised on stumps.
The new park through the middle of the suburb is nice :)

QS always a toss-up with those pics as to if the sun was at the right angle to give you a red refraction...or if its the ash in the air from recent fires...somewhere.

I took this one from my Brisbane backyard when there were some local bushfires a few years ago.

hey - dont bag the 4-bit picture mate...it gave us space invaders

yup...I remember playing space invaders at "Dubs" in G-ville, Fl in 1980...only one I have ever seen...was a two player model...you sat on the opposite side and the screen was like a table in front of you...I was playing with a girl one day and reached across....oops...wrong forum...

I did my apprenticeship in Graphic Reproduction..which is all the film side of advertising. A scanner cost 2 million $ and took up 2 rooms. My 'digital' camera was the size of a fridge & took 20 minutes to calibrate , had a 10 + second exposure...the new one had pulse xenon lights...old one would arc a couple of carbon rods

3 months before i finished my apprenticeship - the trade ceased to exist ...

Such is life
{ozzies will know who said that on the gallows}

yeah tabletop 'spacies' & 'asteroids' & pheonix - how cool was that.
the 1980 F1 was awesome too. These days I have a steering wheel & pedals to hook up to my desk & get into 'ToCA Race Driver 3'.

..nothing quite like having a few beers & taking a le Mans car around Bathurst

Its really hard to believe 1980 was that long ago...80 sure was a good year for me....was poor as a church-mouse but was the best year of my life in Gainesville...

I started engineering school in 1985 and the first computer course I had, I had to ask the person sitting next to me how to turn it on...now 23 years later, 98% of my work is done on the computer...they just gave me a new 24" LCD flat screen monitor at work and now I am spoiled...

Lockheed here in Fort Worth has a huge graphic reproduction department with maybe 80 employees..they are used mostly by our marketing segment and are responsible for all "pictures" used in any of the Lockheed publications...

well that means I was only 17 years older than you then...and now too I suppose...

yeah, the designers for our aircraft use the big screen monitors...the resolution is phoenomenal...everything is designed on the computer now right down to special bolts...the furthest I got into design for our aircraft was making solid models from wireframe models...spent a month in class learning to use catia....what a great program...

I think we just hijacked Quads thread....

Oh, I had a thread? Well, poo..I'd better snip that off..someone might trip over it...hate when that happens.

w000t..hijacked my own thread.. ;)

Shotz. winters in Baltimore can be quite brutal, I took this pic from the front office of the nut factory and if I'm not mistaken that is the Dominos pizza man bringing my pie, and the best way to get it is with pepperoni , sausage , onion and banana ring peppers.
