Ferozaj I have no idea what it is, I would say KILL THEM, KILL THEM ALL! I have some aphids on one of my seedlings I'm trying to see if I can use the local wasps that hang around my plants to kill them.

Mezo.

I don't know I was pretty drunk at the time I posted that. I assumed Moo and Gas were competing by showing off their post count/thownup. I just meant your posts of your property, your gardening etc are way cooler than that. :D And I can't compare myself because my garden looks like crap.

Srly I have alot of respect for you guys and the lengths you go too, to grow chillies. Most people I know think I'm mad growing 15 - 20 plants. I have health issues that have stopped me doing too much gardening, and Gas is too far away to come do it for me. But hopefully things will get better soon. You see big part of my problem is that I have tendonitis in my feet and the only way to get it to heal is to stay off my feet, and it can take 6 weeks or longer to heal. I work as a storeman, and yes my job requires me to be on my feet all day. Luckily for me though I just got made redundant, so now I can get off my feet and let them heal.

Pffff.... Meez is just playing all innocent now that the cat is outta the bag.... :P

(BTW, Meez, why did moo get a bigger payment than me?? That wasn't the deal! Even stevens, IIRC.....)

Let me get my own garden own garden sorted first!

Half the time I only pretend to know what I'm talking about...... ;)

HA..... you fell for Meez trap. Admitting that your garden is unsorted! and you only pretend you know what your talking about.

Actually I'm good at pretending like I know what I'm talking about. Like pollitics, defending Craig Thomson saying, "Whats wrong with using union funds to pay for escorts?". ;)

Has milkman been around lately?? I wanted to see how the Jalapeño HTMs seeds have turned out for him but haven't seen anything for a while

Sounds like something Meez would set up. He's out to get me, ya know? ;)

You just watch now how well he plays like he has no idea what's going on.........

You guys have whey more experiance with chilli plants than me, i know gardening but chilli`s are pretty hard to get right.

I look at Jeff`s (spicychicken) pictures with envy. LoL

I think ive sussed it now, start them off indoors under lights in winter & then plant them out in spring, forget trying to "over winter" its a waste of time (aphids & shit) just grown one seasons crop, we have a very long growing season here (eight months at least).

I'm here mate, just stalking at the moment. Just did a week in the US for work, and off to the US for another week in 2 weeks.

I had some disease or something in my grow tent, that ruined most of my seedlings. I still have enough to put in my garden beds, and there's already a Jalapeno HTM in there. Not very big at the moment, but its alive and well with new leaves sprouting with the ever growing warm weather. I will let you know how they go, they are in a bed that will have all Jalapenos: Billy Biker, Early, Giant and the HTM's you gave me.

I bought a humidifier for my tent, have now 70% - 80% humidity with > 20C temps. Most of my leftover seedlings are doing ok, but I've grown way too many for me to use so I'm gonna have heaps left over.

Interestingly one of the Bhut Jolokia x Pimenta de Neyde plants that were grown from seeds from JR has deep purple leaves, so very keen to see how that turns out.

I left a couple of my plants in the soil, i didnt know anything about overwinter. no aphids etc and it was next to the rose.

Well the benefits are here now, maybe 20 or so chilli's already on it (about an inch long) and there are maybe 30-40 more buds ready to go.

i wouldnt go through all the hassle of lights etc though for over winter, just leave them in the soil what dies dies what lives lives

Told ya...

Winter growing works well for me. Sure aphid numbers are up because most predators disappear but then broad mite numbers are down and fruit fly are non-existant. The milder winter sun is also perfect and doesn't smack the shit outta the plants like the summer sun does. And by the time spring comes, BOOM, early production. :D Podly goodness before the fruit fly arrive.

And overwintering? ferozaj nailed it. I've found that plants, more often than not, just bang in their second year.

Not saying you're wrong though, Meez. What works for you personally is where it's at. For one, I don't have to deal with even half the proportion of aphids as you do by the sounds of it. Sad fact is.... if you can't beat the pests, you have to work around 'em. ;)

Good to hear you still have some left milkman after what sounds like a rubbish start to the season. Nice work with the jalapeño bed will be interesting to see the comparison

Damn...I'm finding it so hard to get the balance right with the amount of sun these plants need! I've just moved a
Load to a shadier area after finding a modest 24 degrees have hammered my beloved plants.

Neeeee....... I think they are old enough now to take some punishment... a bit of hard love is good for 'em.... it'll toughen 'em up! (i.e. stop babying them! :P)

(remember too that stress is especially good when the plants are podding..... it pushes heat levels. ;))

It looked so easy on the packet.... Lol

Id have to admit before i started researching chillis i managed to grow a plant last year no problems..no bugs...no over watering etc..just planted it and it grew and podded...Now i know a lot more they are growing better but its a lot of work :)

Yeah, I guess, but there's gotta be a fine line between a bit of stress and killing them?...lol
I'll have to take some pics later, but I'm talking leaves going wrinkly and crispy at the ends...and burn marks etc..surely that can't be good for it? I see everyone else's plants looking so green and healthy!
