Young plants and LED grow light?

pwb said:

YES, its dark purple and the leaves did raise. I have changed the LED lamp to one that dont have the same type of lens so the light isnt so strong/focused and now it looks ok. I will have them under there for some time and then go back to the stronger LED lamp.

I actually got purpling with a couple of my seedlings last year under CFL, and I only had 40W total. So I would not worry about it too much. ;-)

There is nothing to worry about, they just had plenty of light from the leds and the purplish colouring is the result of it.

Intense light from the leds will stunt growth cause unusual growth and maybe even kill the plants.

Maybe the small plants needs time to adjust a bit longer under those powerfull leds to make them grow more normally.

My 120w leds dont colours my plants that much, I think about 10 hours or so will suffice for young plants for daily light intake and about 12 hours for bigger plants.

Sorry for highjacking a thread, but thought it would be slightly drastic to start a new topic.

I believe I am finding my 6-7 pepper seedlings to be growing kind of leggy in the winter months.
I am considering aiding them with a grow light, just a single bulb, not a grow room.

Found 5 watt LED with 4 660nm bulbs and 1 440nm bulb (aka 5x1watt LEDs), for 12 USD. (http://www.banggood.com/5W-LED-Light-Scattering-Plant-Growth-Light-p-927325.html)

Would this be useful, or a dissapointment?

Alternatively 24 watt LED for 12 USD, also appears to be 1 watt diodes

(again sorry for intruding, it was just in case some of you would have experience with low-cost grow lights)
