zombie ants..and insects..

FDA approval can sometimes be just as bad as having a deathwish! just listen to all the side effects medication creates to solve 1 problem
IMO if its natural its safer than a man made drug, I'm not saying everything thats natural is 100% safe but for the most part they're safer than man made drugs.

I'm sure there is a lot of stuff that the FDA approved that they have eventually found harmful, but in my opinion it's still better than nothing at all. I'm sure a lot of current medicines and treatments where once ancient treatments, but if I found a dead caterpillar with an odd fungus growing out of it's head I really don't see how I would just pop it in my mouth and eat it??

I mean seriously? I guess i'm just the weird odd type that would just go down to the pharmacy and get an inhaler if I had problems with my asthma, but that's just me.

LGHT, I'm not saying all Asian traditional medicine has merit. I live in Northern Arizona and we have huge problems here with elk poachers. They kill elk just to take the antlers to sell to the Asian traditional medicine market. Asian traditional medicine is also responsible for several animal species being endangered and on the verge of extinction.

That said, you will note in my profile I am Native American (and also ethnically Jewish---oy, veh, can I make you some matzoh meal frybread sometime? :) In Native American traditions, we use a lot of herbs for medicine. And they work, too. Do a web search on Osha Root. So, I kind of get a bit wrapped around the axle to see all traditional medicine dismissed as "witchcraft". These are peoples' ethnic heritages. Many of us still adhere to these traditions.

I also worked in a large-scale fruit packing shed one year. You might be surprised to know what kinds of insects YOU are ingesting every time you drink fruit juice. I've seen it with my own eyes, friend. Nearly every apple that goes to the juicer has a worm or maggot (or more than one worm or maggot) in it. Plus various other insects. That's why fruit juice has to be pasteurized. The fruit that goes into juice are "culls". That is, they fell to the ground. Where they became host to insects. And there's nothing wrong with that, provided the juice is pasteurized. Extra protein. And any way, there is also no way to know if fruit has insects in it on the large scale fruit juice is made and sold. Just not possible. Pour yourself a nice tall glass of apple juice and enjoy your daily dose of pureed maggots, beetles, fruit fly larvae, and earwigs. Mmmmm! Refreshing!

puree maggots... dammm.. what have i been drinking! need to mix more alcohol on it to get it sterilized :))

True gourmets can discern the difference between fruit fly larvae and beetles due to the terroir of the juice. "Ah, yes! Fruit fly larvae! A Summer of 2010 vintage! That was a good year for them..." :woohoo:

My comments have nothing to do with culture or race. Nor did I say "ALL" traditional medicine is witchcraft so your reply is way out of context.

I just find it silly that people not only believe in, but support and pay for "medicine" that has no scientific research or testing to support it's claims. Plus some of those treatments may actually be harmful. I think it would be safe to say that most if not all medicine and treatments have been derived from traditional sources, but again I only recognize tested and proven scientific research not hearsay and myths.

LGHT,

I am not interested in engaging in an argument with you. Yes, modern medicine has proven value. Antibiotics, vaccines, surgery, medicines, and more. No one disputes that. But there's a flip side to the coin of proven scientific research. Proven scientific research also brought us nuclear weapons, biological weapons, VX nerve gas, and other such crowd-pleasers. Have a nice day.

Shalom,
Guerilla Chef

Have you ever heard the term guns don't kill people, people kill people?

There is no point trying to argue with logic or common sense.

LGHT, I live in Arizona. Of course I've heard that phrase. This is one of two states with an Official State Handgun. And concealed carry with no permit required.
