event Zest Fest or Fiery Foods Show?

I was wondering if anybody could recommend the best barbecue either in the stockyards or near the show. I think I saw a post by AJ a long time back but could not find it. My best friend Steve who will make the trip with me is yearning for some barbecue. I saw seven places listed in the link from the ZestFest page.

Cadillac Ranch, Dickey's, Fred's, Red Hot & Blue, Sonny Bryan's, Spring Creek and Tommy's.

of allthose you listed, the only one I have had the pleasure to go to is Spring Creek...IMO you won't get a bad meal at most of the BBQ places here...I am particular to Railhead...and is about the only place I eat BBQ...everyones got an opinion on their favorite places...I will tell you this, since they moved the fest to Arlington, I can not give any directions or advice...thats too far east (read close to Dallas) for me to venture...

Well, due to take off from Newark at around 6:30am Thursday. Only one issue, a F**KING snowstorm Wednesday night! We'll probably be getting into Texas late. Hopefully someone setting up on Thursday will have a couple cold ones waiting when we arrive, I'm gonna need it.
 
Very cool update. We were able to move our flight to Wednesday morning(no extra charge!), to get the Hell out of Dodge before the next stupid snowstorm hits. Be gettin' in around noon into DFW. Lookin' forward to hangin' with AJ and The Wife Unit tomorrow night!

The Eagle has landed! Man, talk about threading the needle. By the time we took off out of Newark, you couldn't see the top of the control tower due to the snow just starting up. Headin' over to the new venue to start setup...

Well, the first day is over, and we're getting ready for battle again today. Defcon Sauces took yet another Golden Chile for our wing sauce, along with a 2nd place as well. Life is good. Look forward to possibly seeing a few of you today. We've already had a couple THP'ers stop by yesterday.

Been looking for a winner's list on ZF and Chile pep mag websites and can't find anything. Anyone know of a winner's list published yet?

Well I just got home from my ZestFest experience. We had a blast sampling and buying everything. If it were not for some serious allergy problems unfortunately timed it would have been fabulous. My Buddy and I plan on making the trip again yearly. I got the chance to meet a couple of THP people. I enjoyed chatting with Johnie of Heart Breaking Dawns. Their products were receiving good attention deservedly so. Here is a pic of Johnie Friday night, Nicole had not arrived yet.

I ended coming home with just over a dozen sauces which I am happy with considering that I did not have much budget.
Here is a pic of the Lollipop lick put on by Intensity Academy with their 1.8 million shu lollipop. I believe the winner also won last year but not sure. He is standing to Scott Roberts left (or 3rd from right).

I'm sorry Salsalady that I do not know the award winners.
