Making a chile that is hotter than the last, is just part of sport. Just like people have a passion for automobiles, they have a passion for chiles. Have you ever gotten into a car that does 160+ mph and said to yourself "I want to go faster"? I know I have.

As for PepperJoe..this whole thread is searchable and brings drama to something that hasn't even happened yet. It is nothing more than sales tactics used by someone who has a vested interest in the Chile industry. We are just filling in the meat and potatoes of the story. Maybe he is naive like Ted and means no harm. Maybe Joe is just trying to draw attention away from the Morouga because he doesn't have any to sell.

In anycase, there are plenty of seeds to swap around and I like to share. No reason any of us should be paying more than an SASBE unless we have some expressing need to have a pure strain. Which in itself is sometimes cool, we can't find the variety and we have the cumpulsion to obtain it immediately or we just like supporting fellow friends trying to make a living. It's all good to me.

If I was going after $ I'd develop a Hybrid that positively wasn't stable that only I knew the parent cross for so nobody could just re grow it and get the seeds , everyone would have to buy the seeds from me...

Thinking of all the hybrids Gurney's, Mansanto and whoever else sells.

I'd think if these guys are really into developing pepper varieties for the money that would be the route to take.
it would be a lot easier to have developed the gazillion hybrids too.
I'd think that after finding out what peppers to cross that always give you the specific super hot would be the hard part but wouldn't need any farther growing out past F1.
In fact the farther away from parent plants the F1 is the better as far as sales goes.I'd also hope the F2 grows a super bitter nasty tasting pepper with no heat or productivity.

Developing a stable variety would be shooting themselves in the foot as far as long term sales goes.

I heard from a guy at the local homeless centre that he knows a cat who's owner's tranvestite cousin's uni lecturer is developing a chilli that once bitten has the same reactive properties as a 20 MT Nuclear explosion - he told me all this before he mugged me and stole my flip flops.

Marketing 101.

Honestly, lets just add this to the growing list of THP content that dilutes the experience here. I know, I know, "Dont read it", "Move to another thread", etc. but when it is flashed in your face it is pretty hard to avoid.

3 months ago the Hot Talk was full of worthwile information and discussion. Now it is full of people trying to troll the forums for money, push their outrageous "reviews" on the community, and hype shit that isn't real.

I can't wait to get the future world's hottest pepper, that beat out the other future world's hottest, that is from China and isn't even out yet, for free. Then, just because I am a nice guy I will isolate it, grow a half dozen plants, and give it, for free, to every noob that comes here and doesn't read the "Marketplace Etiquette" thread.

My only fee will be that he grows it and gives it, for free, to everyone.

I will repy to this thread for two reasons. First of all I am not selling a pack of Moruga seeds for $24 or $27. Day after press release I had some familiar people I know that are aspiring sellers start buying out my inventory in multiple packs. Only way to stop this was make a combination pack which was 10+ seeds Moruga, 10+ seeds Sunrise Scorpion and 10+ seeds Barrackapore. This did slow things down a little and prevented people from buying me out. Not going to lie here it also helped me to sell the other seeds. I know majority of you will get seeds through trading and that is why I wont advertise on this site. I don't come on here to hype things or troll for customers. I have enough business. Also learned my lesson about Trolling about 4 yrs ago on Garden Forum. Now I am all about real testing because I grow peppers for the Industry. Data from CPI is a value to me and to the Industry. I have tried for yrs to get good testing done on open pollinated non hybrid varieties. Now CPI has done this and now I see we have another Circus act. Joe I see you keep saying that your just passing along this info. That you don't know if it's really accurate. Well I take offense to that because people come to this forum to learn and share. I am not a regular poster here but have learned a great deal from the devoted hobbyists on here. So when you post stuff you cannot verify or that sounds crazy you are at fault. Your telling me you cannot control the fingers that type on your keyboard. You have a motive for posting this crap. Just like 3 yrs ago Gerald said he was crossing Savina with a Scorpion and said he knew of a new chile called the Viper. Gerald was priming the pump for future sales. You call yourself a pepper guy and you repeat that Chinense is from China??? You then say that DNA can make something be traced to an origin?? DNA does not have a GPS! Holy crap are you that ignorant?? Do you meet people and because you like them you automatically believe in them?? Yes I forgot you can see through bullshit. Not this time because 600 new varieties, Trinidad Peppers DNA points to China and $30,000 for Guinness application are all crazy. Application is a few hundred. Fast track is an additional $250. If you fly them to the States its about $10,000 in expenses. Joe I have always looked at you a nice guy. But when you say that you are just passing along the information here you mean one of two things. You are very ignorant and stupid. Or you think we are very ignorant and stupid.

Habanero500,
Before I can venture an opinion if you are ignorant or stupid.....
I have no idea who you are or what your company is all about.
Please provide your website url or the name of your company and information so I can check it out and offer an intelligent answer back. You "Grow peppers for the industry" but I honestly have never heard of you? Probably because you have no information about your company in your profile?
Fiery Regards,
Pepper Joe
 :P  :P

Joe - I do believe thats Jim Duffy of refining fire chilies aka seller of nearly 3$ a piece seeds "for the children"....

Did you bother to read my previous post??? Read it again. The seeds are not $3 a piece. Man how many times to I have to explain this. Not going to explain it again as if you would have read post in entirety you would not have just made that statement. And if you doubt my donations to the Church and Youth I will be happy to scan some docs and E mail them to you.

I saw it and even read it in its entirety. But that doesn't make me believe it.

I'm sure you do support your church... But as I've mentioned before, using it as schtick to sell seeds is at a minimum distastefull.

From a scriptural perspective, aren't we to keep our left hand from knowing what our right hand is doing?

I mean, do what you like. But the whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and the ring of your self adulation in my ears.

I hope I'm wrong.

Finally, we the citizens of thehotpepper.com discovered it!

Sorry.. all seeds have been sold!

Look you can verify what I say in my webstore if you do not believe me. And if you knew me at all or read about my story I started the business to support the Ministry. I did not jump on the bandwagon to get people to buy from me. Anyone in my community can tell you that. Other reason I talk about the ministry is to raise awareness to it. I have sent many people to my Pastor who found me through my business so they could find out how they could duplicate it in their Church. I keep a low profile in my Church nobody but staff and family know when or how much I give. And when I help others in need they never ever know it was me. Because it's not about me. Just like it's not my money. I am only a steward of it. Before you judge my motives talk to people that really know me. I may get cocky sometimes but its because when I stand for something or believe in something I get passionate about it.

From your page (I actually almost bought some Moruga (or however you spell it) seeds from you after the results were published, but before they hit 27$) If I remember correctly, supporting the ministry, and the business kind of developed side by side. The only thing I know about you is what I've read on your site, and on here, and these were the conclusions I've drawn. But I digress. Lets stop bumping a Pepper Joe publicity thread ;), though i will continue this conversation by private message if you would like.

Habanero500,

I wouldn't bother trying to defend yourself more than you already have. I think your response explains yourself very clearly and is good enough for me. I see you don't sell any magical hybrid or make up your own names, so you seem legit. I think your educated responses and the information you have contributed are good enough advertising. I realize it is really hard to ignore this stuff though. I feel the urge to vent, and breakdown every little inaccuracy but I have to tell myself it is a waste of my time. Sadly I am realizing this isn't a joke....at least I don't think so.....or is it?

Jim,
That post from Habanero500 is from you?
I'm appalled an outraged now.
We had a civil conversation in the blog at pepperseed.com at my Buds Jeremy's site.
But now I'm taking the gloves off.

You had the Balls to say

You have to pay $25.99 to get your Moruga seeds. Period. The fact that you toss in 2 other seeds is insignificant. We give away two packs of free seeds with EVERY Purchase. At Penny's Tomatoes we give away 3 packs of Free Seeds with every purchase.
Let me give you a lesson 101 in business, son.
If You want to control:
aspiring sellers start buying out my inventory in multiple packs....
SIMPLE. Limit one or two packs per customer. That's what we did with our Ghost Pepper and Giant Ghost Pepper when our inventory was getting low. You don't need to rape them in pricing.
You want to vent an opinion Jim? So will I. The previous record holder prior to this month was the Butch T Trinidad Scorpion pepper.
We sell it for $7.99. All other Super-Hots are $6.99 or $7.99.
Come on Jim....$25.99 for the Moruga with some other stuff tossed in is Highway Robbery. Take some friendly advice from a guy that's been in the business for 23 years....your customers won't forget this. From your website----->>>
Trinidad Moruga Scorpion 10+ Seeds Combo Pack! Our Price: $25.99
Wow.
Or you think we are very ignorant and stupid.
We'll leave that up to others to decide. You drew first blood Jim.
Bottom line...I don't visit THP to troll...I actually come here to learn from some pretty astute Chile gardeners.
If I'm going to troll I'll do it on sites where I actually get substantial sales from like Daves Garden, etc.
Fiery Regards,
Pepper Joe  :P  :P  :P

So you weren't 'priming the pump' when coincidentally all the record talk and media hit mainstream you happened to be the only person selling (the creatively subtle renamed Trinidad scorpion morouga blend) the 'marouga scorpion' and your option to purchase those seeds happened to be narrowed to one of the only multi packs on your site and the most expensive to boot when the previous days they were available as single packs? ?
Another question Jim where was your original source for your 'marouga scorpions' ?? And at what point did you change the name? ?

Joe, I TRIED to quote every time you put a price, name, and website in one of your posts, but it won't let me put that many quotes in my response. This site welcomes all, and that means all, but you are using this thread to plug your business over and over and over again. Think all you want that you are just "spreading info", but you are just trying to make money by playing off of the community.

And now you have the audacity to think you are on a different level than Jim? C'mon man, you two are one in the same. Just because Jim is "stopping" the competitors by ripping off the ignorant doesn't mean that you are any different. Honestly you two should stay in the promotion section if you are going to mention even one time a price, product, and website. This is against the rules and you know it.
