Where do fungus gnats come from??

Use Mosquito Dunks. You can get them at Home Depot, or almost any website and they are a LOT cheaper than Neem Oil. Plus, it doesn't smell as bad.   http://www.amazon.com/Summit-111-5-20-Pack-Mosquito-Dunk/dp/B0002568YA

    labels Need Help Critiquing Label

I think if you want "Red Thunder" to be a brand name and use it across multiple products, you need to come up with a logo for it and use that same logo across all products. Keep the "Ken's Pepper Works" only for where you would put the address and contact info. If you put both, you are confusing...

    labels Need Help Critiquing Label

I do like #2 the most also. If you do end up going with the steel effect, I think it needs to be done right. The way it was done here makes it look like a cheesy website banner. On #2, at least the first thing that gets your attention is your logo and name of the sauce.    I would propose a few...

wanted WTB 50 Pounds Of A Single Type of Pepper

I am looking to buy 50 pounds of one type of pepper from anyone able to supply this kind of amount. They can be any pepper, as long as they are the heat level of a Habanero or hotter. I also need them to be ripe, not green or almost ripe. And yes, it has to be 50 pounds, or 45 at the absolute...

    misc Pricing

Also, thank you for pointing the difference out between markup and margin. It will be a few months until I am ready to talk to grocery stores, but I want to make sure I am in a position where I can negotiate a price where I can sell it in the store for a decent price. Now I have a more accurate...

Yeah, but I do have to blend it. I have no way to do a fermentation that long, especially at this point in time. I think Tabasco actually continuously stirs it during that one month period, which would be nice to be able to do but again, I don't have the proper equipment for that.

That is when I blend the pepper mash with the vinegar and let the vinegar break down the pepper solids as much as possible before I strain it.

    misc Pricing

All very good points. I'm going to have to see what we can do to get the price down a bit. One of the issues we are having is that our cost for the peppers, bottles, and stuff we have little control over is almost $2 per bottle. Plus all the fees associated with storing it for 3 months and all...

    misc Pricing

My new issue. Pricing. I've been getting quotes from co-packers that the final cost for my hot sauce in a 5 oz woozy bottle will be $3.10. This includes the 2 month fermentation process, 1 month acidification, straining the mash, bottling, and labeling. Most hot sauces are cooked and bottled...

marketing The biggest challenge of all....marketing

If anyone needs a consultant for social media help, I'd be glad to offer my services. LIke everyone has said, you need something integrated so that you can post on one thing and it can show on all the others. Everything I post for Texas Tears on my Instagram shows up on both Twitter and...

    Any interest in these?

How many pounds of orange habaneros do you have? I am working on a prickly pear habanero sauce and need some to make a test batch with. What is your price?

    review Texas Tears Sauce Review

Thanks guys. While I do agree with most of what has been written, I do feel like I need to say a few things. The reason my sauces have the consistency that they do is not entirely from too much vinegar. Most of the liquid is from the peppers themselves. Ideally, I would love to ferment the...
